The HJC V90 brings a rounded, retro appearance to a modular helmet, with a distinctive bubble-style outer visor and a separate internal sun shield. Its design combines classic visual cues with a moving chin section. Whether comparing the helmet or maintaining one, keep its XD-14 outer shield, internal visor and communications fittings distinct.
HJC's V90 manual describes a fibreglass-based shell, a micro buckle and removable crown and cheek padding. The curved outer visor gives the helmet much of its character. Assess the whole helmet on your head, including the view through that shield and the operation of the chin section, rather than choosing by styling alone.
Try the release and closing action with your riding gloves. Check the actual helmet's approval markings and manual for permitted use; a modular mechanism alone is not proof that open-chin riding is authorised. The strap and latches must work correctly in the configuration specified by HJC.
XD-14 is the V90's large external visor. IS-08 is the separate internal sun shield listed for V90 and C80. Shared internal-shield fitment does not mean those helmets share an outer visor: the C80 uses XD-16. Confirm the model and component reference before ordering.
The clear and dark XD-14 gallery examples show alternatives within the V90 outer-shield family. A finish changes light transmission and appearance, not the underlying helmet fit. Check the markings and instructions for the chosen visor, and consider how your journey's light conditions may change.
The manual identifies SMART HJC readiness, and HJC lists V90 compatibility for the 20B system pictured here. The unit is an accessory illustration, not a standard included item. For a legacy V90, inspect the visor ratchets, chin-bar mechanism and padding as well as the shell. Follow the model manual when replacing parts and avoid treating a new visor as a repair for other helmet damage.
Our team can help identify V90 visor parts and explain the difference between its outer shield and internal sun visor. Bring the exact model and component code so we can discuss the correct replacement.
