Smoke and darker tints
Smoke and darker lenses reduce the amount of visible light reaching the eye. They can be useful in brighter conditions but may become unsuitable as daylight fades or when moving into shade.
Mirrored and coloured finishes
A mirror or coloured appearance does not by itself tell you how dark the view will be. Compare the manufacturer's VLT information and intended conditions for the exact product.
Photochromic lenses
Photochromic-labelled lenses vary their light transmission in response to changing light. Their operating range and speed are product-specific, so check the stated VLT range rather than expecting an instant clear-to-dark change.
What does VLT mean?
Visible Light Transmission, usually shortened to VLT, is the percentage of visible light that passes through a lens. A higher percentage allows more light through, while a lower percentage describes a darker lens. VLT is a more useful comparison than colour name alone because bronze, rose, silver or grey finishes can transmit different amounts of light.
Leatt publishes different VLT figures across its replacement-lens range. Always use the figure attached to the exact colour and model you are buying. Do not copy a percentage from another lens in the same family.
Tear-off and roll-off lenses

Do not fit a tear-off lens to a roll-off setup, or assume that posts and canisters from another model will align. Check whether the listing is a bare lens, a lens with posts, or a complete kit. Film width and canister design also need to match the system.
Anti-fog, anti-scratch and lens construction
Coatings and construction differ across this mixed-brand collection. Leatt specifies anti-fog and hard-coated anti-scratch properties for selected Vizion products, and publishes separate information for its Velocity lenses. That does not establish the same specification for every Race Optics, John Doe, Roeg or DMD lens.
