The HJC C91N is a flip-front motorcycle helmet made for riders who value an opening chin bar, a clear road visor and a separate drop-down sun shield. The range at Moto Central covers plain and graphic finishes, together with selected HJ-17 visor-system spares and compatible Pinlock inserts.
Every C91N helmet uses the same advanced polycarbonate composite shell and single-lever chin-bar mechanism. Colour, artwork and available sizes differ between the solid, Nepos and Jyn versions, so choose the correct fit before deciding between finishes.
The adjustable chin bar opens using a central lever that HJC designed to be operable while wearing gloves.
The external visor provides 99% UV protection, is prepared for the appropriate Pinlock insert and uses HJC's tool-free RapidFire replacement system.
A dark smoke internal shield slides down behind the clear outer visor for bright daytime conditions.
The moisture-wicking crown liner and cheek pads are removable and washable, with glasses grooves and speaker pockets built into the comfort system.
HJC's ACS ventilation layout channels air from the front towards the rear exhaust, helping warm and humid air leave the helmet while the motorcycle is moving. The large top vent is easy to identify, but its effect will still depend on road speed, riding position, weather and the airflow around the motorcycle's screen.
The C91N is prepared for HJC's 10B and 20B Bluetooth systems. These units are sold separately. Speaker pockets make installation tidier, but no communication system should require cutting, drilling or compressing the protective liner.
A flip-front format can make fuel stops, brief conversations and putting on glasses easier because the chin section opens without removing the whole helmet. The C91N is therefore a practical option to compare for commuting and touring, especially when the combination of clear outer visor and internal sun shield suits journeys through changing light.
Always close and lock the chin bar before moving off unless the helmet's own approval label and instructions explicitly permit the raised configuration for the intended use. The opening mechanism is a convenience feature, not a substitute for checking that the chin bar has latched securely on both sides.
HJC lists the standard C91N size range from XS to 2XL, covering head measurements from 54 to 63 cm. Some graphics have a narrower size range, and the sizes available at Moto Central vary with current stock. Measure around the widest part of the head, just above the eyebrows and ears, then compare that number with the manufacturer's chart and our motorcycle helmet sizing guide.
A correctly sized new helmet should feel evenly firm around the crown and cheeks. With the strap secured, gently rotate the shell: the skin should move with the lining rather than the helmet sliding freely. Concentrated pain, a large gap or easy movement can mean that a different size or internal shape is needed.
Open and close the chin bar several times during a fitting. Check that the lever is reachable, the bar clears the face and both sides latch without forcing the mechanism. Never choose a loose size merely to make the helmet easier to put on.
The HJ-17 outer visor is the clear weather and impact shield in front of the face. HJC specifies 99% UV protection and Pinlock preparation, while the RapidFire ratchet allows tool-free visor changes. Keep its locking surfaces and pivots clean and use only compatible replacement parts.
The HJ-V5 dark smoke sun shield sits inside the helmet. It is useful when bright light changes during a journey, but it does not replace the clear outer visor. Raise it when light levels fall and keep both surfaces clean with products suitable for helmet visors.
Pinlock-ready means that the HJ-17 visor has the mounting preparation for a compatible insert. It does not guarantee that an insert is supplied with every helmet. This collection includes clear and yellow DKS088 Pinlock 70 inserts for compatible HJ-17 visors, but check the individual item description, intended light conditions and exact visor compatibility before ordering.
For further replacement options, browse helmet spares and accessories. Gear plates, visors and inserts perform different jobs, so match the HJ-17 reference and the product compatibility list rather than choosing by appearance.
The ACS channels operate effectively when the intakes and exhaust remain clear. In cold or wet weather, combine useful airflow with a correctly installed anti-fog insert if required. An insert manages condensation on the inner face of the outer visor; it cannot remove rain, dirt or mist from the outside.
Remove the washable crown liner and cheek pads according to HJC's instructions. Clean them gently, rinse away residue and allow them to dry naturally before refitting. Avoid solvents, fuel, aggressive cleaners and direct heat on the shell, visor, sun shield, lining or protective materials.
Speaker pockets can reduce pressure from a correctly positioned communication system. Align the speakers with the ears, route wiring behind the comfort lining and keep every cable clear of the strap, chin-bar latch and visor mechanism. The C91N's stated 10B and 20B readiness does not mean either Bluetooth unit is included.
Moto Central places the available C91N solid colours and graphics in one collection, making it easier to compare size coverage while keeping the shared helmet specification clear. Compatible inserts and mechanism spares can also be identified by their HJ-17 references instead of being confused with complete helmets.
If the C91N's fit or format is not right, compare more flip-front motorcycle helmets, explore the wider HJC helmet range or return to all motorcycle helmets.
HJC specifies the HJ-17 outer visor for the C91N.
Yes. It uses an HJ-V5 dark smoke internal sun shield behind the clear HJ-17 visor.
The visor is Pinlock-ready, but that wording does not confirm an insert is in every box. Check the exact product's listed contents before ordering.
The C91N has speaker pockets and is prepared for HJC 10B and 20B systems, which are sold separately.
Yes. HJC states that the crown liner and cheek pads are removable and washable.
