Choose a trials motorcycle helmet around the way you ride: controlled movements, changing body position and a clear view of the section ahead. Compare fit, ventilation, peak design and ease of movement, then check the approval for your intended use. A comfortable, stable helmet helps you concentrate on your riding, whether practising or taking part in an event.

What matters when choosing a trials helmet?
A stable, comfortable fit
Use the manufacturer's measurements as a starting point, then try the helmet with its strap fastened. Look for even contact around the head without painful pressure. Turn your head and look down as well as ahead to check that the helmet stays in position.
Visibility and peak position
Check your view in the positions you use on the bike, especially when looking towards the next obstacle. Compare the peak's shape and any adjustment it offers. If you wear glasses or goggles, try them with the helmet rather than assessing each item separately.
Ventilation and interior comfort
Compare the air inlets, outlets and lining construction. Trials riding involves physical effort as well as time spent waiting between sections, so consider how the helmet feels throughout a session. Check whether interior parts can be removed for cleaning and follow the care instructions.
Weight and freedom of movement
Consider the helmet's weight alongside its balance and fit. Compare any published weights at the stated shell size, and assess how the helmet feels as you move your head. A low headline weight is only one part of choosing a comfortable helmet.
Open-face coverage and eye protection
Open-face designs are a familiar format in trials helmets, but they leave the chin exposed. A peak, visor or pair of goggles does not provide the protective chin coverage of a full-face helmet. Consider the coverage you want alongside the helmet's intended riding use.
Check what eye protection is supplied and which accessories the manufacturer permits. If you use goggles, check the frame clearance, facial fit and strap position. Avoid choosing an urban jet helmet for competition solely because its shape resembles a trials design.
Trials helmets, trail helmets and adventure helmets
Trials and trail riding describe different activities. If you mean green lanes, longer off-road routes or a mixture of tarmac and trails, compare adventure helmets and motocross helmets too. For a general road-going jet helmet, explore the open-face collection.
Check the requirements for your riding
Before entering a trials event, check its current helmet requirements with the organiser. Confirm the approval of the exact model you choose, including road-use requirements if your route uses public roads. A category name or a familiar shape is not a substitute for those checks.
Choose a helmet you can look after
Check access to replacement peaks, lining components and other approved fittings. Use the complete model name and generation when looking through helmet spare parts, and follow the manufacturer's cleaning and inspection instructions. Compare the wider motorcycle helmet range if another format better suits your riding.
