Motorcycle Puncture Repair

Motorcycle puncture repair kits are emergency equipment to consider before a journey, alongside a suitable way to reinflate the tyre. Choose a kit for the tyre construction on your bike and understand its limits before you need it. A roadside repair is not a guarantee that a damaged tyre is fit for continued use.

Match the repair kit to your tyres
Tubeless repair kits
External plugs or bungs are intended for specified punctures in suitable tubeless tyres. GRYYP's Cargol Turn & Go is one example of an emergency repair system. Read the exact kit's tyre suitability and damage limits rather than assuming it can address any loss of pressure.
Inner-tube equipment
A tubeless plug does not repair a punctured inner tube. If your wheel uses a tube, choose the appropriate tube-repair or replacement equipment and consider the tools and skills needed to access it. Check the actual wheel and tyre arrangement rather than assuming all spoked or cast wheels are alike.
Inflation after a repair
Sealing a puncture and restoring pressure are separate tasks. Check whether the kit includes an inflator, cartridges or an adaptor, and how they connect to your valve. The number of cartridges needed can depend on tyre size and pressure, so do not assume one cartridge is sufficient.
Refills and small parts
A top-up pack may supply repair consumables without the tools in a complete kit. Compare its contents with what you already carry. Replacement valve parts and adaptors also need the correct application; they are not substitutes for repairing damage elsewhere in the tyre.
Understand the limits of a roadside repair
Michelin describes external wick repairs as temporary and says the inside of a punctured tyre needs professional inspection. Damage from riding with low pressure may not be visible from the outside. Follow the tyre and repair-kit makers' restrictions, including any speed or distance limit, and arrange professional assessment promptly.
Sidewall or shoulder damage, a damaged bead, or a tyre that will not retain pressure must not be treated as an ordinary repairable tread puncture. Stop somewhere safe and arrange recovery when the damage is outside the permitted repair conditions.
Make the kit useful before the journey
Read the instructions at home, identify the parts and check that consumables are present and in usable condition. Include a suitable pressure gauge and confirm that the inflation equipment can reach your valve. Keep the kit protected and accessible within your motorcycle luggage.
After using it, replace the consumed items before the next trip. A kit can be one part of your journey preparation, but it does not remove the need for tyre checks or a plan for breakdown assistance.
Prepare the right kit for your motorcycle
Bring your tyre and valve details to Moto Central in Wolvey. We can help compare kit contents and identify the manufacturer's stated applications, so you can check that your repair and inflation equipment belong together before travelling.
