Knox motorcycle clothing centres on protection and adaptable layers, with armoured shirts, separate protectors, gloves, trousers and weather shells across the brand. That gives riders two useful routes: building an outfit around a protective core garment, or choosing a compatible armour upgrade for existing kit. The role of each item matters more than how thick or substantial it looks.

Understand the armoured-shirt approach
The Urbane Pro MK3 is a verified example of a Knox shirt designed as a standalone Class AA protective garment, with Micro-Lock Compact Level 2 armour at the back, shoulders and elbows. Knox describes it for use on its own in hot weather or with additional warmth and waterproof layers as conditions change. This is a model-specific construction; a general armour carrier or ordinary mesh top should not be assumed to offer the same abrasion protection.
Keep the protective layer well fitted
An armoured shirt needs a close, comfortable fit so its protectors sit over the intended areas. Bend your elbows and reach towards the bars, then check the hem and any trouser attachment. Try weather layers over it too, allowing movement without compressing the outfit or disturbing the armour position.
Add the layers the journey needs
With Knox's Seasonless approach, the protective core and weather layers have separate roles. Plan for a cool start, a warm afternoon or rain according to your route. Confirm the specification of the exact shell or insulating layer rather than assuming that every item carrying the Knox name is waterproof or independently abrasion protective.
Choosing Micro-Lock Compact replacements
Knox offers Micro-Lock Compact protectors for compatible upgrades and replacements. Match the part to the body area, dimensions, shape and retention method required by the garment. For example, shoulder and elbow or knee components have different references. A higher level on a label does not make an incorrectly fitting pad suitable, and it does not change the abrasion classification of the surrounding garment.
Build around the kit you already use
Check the complete combination with your riding trousers, gloves and boots before deciding what needs changing. Read the product instructions for protector removal, cleaning and inspection. Compare motorcycle jackets and riding trousers when deciding between a layered setup and more traditional outer garments.
Try the Knox layers as a system
Bring your existing jacket or weather shell to our showroom. That makes it easier to assess space, movement and protector position before choosing a core garment or upgrade.
