The HJC RPHA 72 is an ECE 22.06 sport-touring full-face helmet with an HJ-48 outer visor, adjustable internal sun shield and titanium double-D fastening. This collection includes second-generation PIM composite helmets and separate RPHA 72 Carbon versions in solid and graphic finishes.
Choose between the two shell constructions after confirming fit. Both versions share the core sport-touring format, visor family and preparation for SMART HJC communication systems.
The standard helmet uses HJC's second-generation Premium Integrated Matrix shell, a laminated prepreg composite. The Carbon model uses a carbon-fibre outer shell and adds details such as a gunmetal-coloured vent frame and carbon label.
Available in matt black and a broad range of Value, Ernem, Phyta and Goldy graphics. It carries the same ECE 22.06 approval, HJ-48 visor family and DKS642 Pinlock fitment as the Carbon model.
Choose the Carbon version for its different shell material and exposed-carbon appearance. Compare the exact colour, listed weight and available size rather than assuming one construction will fit differently.
HJC describes the RPHA 72 as a compact, aerodynamic sport-touring helmet intended to balance high-speed stability with day-long usability. The Advanced Channeling Ventilation System uses two intakes and two exhausts to move air through the shell.
A neck roll, chin curtain and visor seal help manage airflow around the lower edge and eye port. Actual wind noise will still depend on head shape, fit, motorcycle screen height, riding position and wind direction. Wear suitable hearing protection on longer or faster journeys.
Measure around the widest part of the head and use the size chart on the exact product page as a starting point. A suitable helmet should hold the crown and cheeks evenly without a sharp hotspot at the forehead, temples or rear.
HJC specifies removable, washable crown and cheek pads, quick-drying moisture-managing fabric, eyewear grooves and emergency-release cheek-pad tabs. Fit remains more important than colour or shell finish.
Our helmet sizing guide explains the initial measurement. The Moto Central head-shape video shows why two helmets labelled with the same circumference can feel very different.
The RPHA 72 and RPHA 72 Carbon use the HJ-48 outer visor. HJC specifies a Pinlock-prepared, anti-scratch-coated shield with 99% UV protection, a smooth ratchet and a push-release centre lock.
The internal sun shield is an HJ-V12 with multi-step position adjustment. It sits behind the HJ-48 and is operated separately. A sun shield can reduce glare in suitable conditions but does not replace the need for a clear, road-legal main visor when light levels fall.
HJC specifies the DKS642 Pinlock 120 XLT anti-fog insert for the prepared HJ-48 visor and lists a clear insert among the helmet's box contents. The insert mounts inside the main visor and helps manage condensation through its moisture-absorbing surface and sealed air pocket.
A Pinlock insert cannot repair a visor with deep scratches, cracks, worn pivots or a damaged centre lock. Replace the outer shield when its condition affects vision or retention.
The helmet is prepared for SMART HJC 11B, 21B and 50B systems, which are sold separately. Use the intended speaker and cable recesses and confirm that installed parts do not create pressure around the ears.
HJC lists a DKS642 Pinlock 120 XLT lens, installed chin curtain and breath deflector in the box. Check the exact Moto Central listing and packaging before purchase, particularly where colour or edition details differ.
Use mild soap, lukewarm water and a soft cloth on the shell and visor. Avoid fuel, solvents, abrasive products and household glass cleaner. Remove washable interior parts in line with the helmet instructions and let them air-dry fully.
Before riding, inspect the shell, EPS, strap, double-D rings, visor pivots and centre lock. A helmet that has received a significant impact should be assessed for replacement even if the exterior appears intact.
Moto Central brings together the PIM and Carbon versions so riders can compare shell construction, colour and available size in one collection. Our showroom team can assist with fit and help identify the correct HJ-48, HJ-V12 or DKS642 replacement part.

Yes. HJC specifies ECE 22.06 approval for the RPHA 72 and RPHA 72 Carbon. Check the physical approval label before use.
The standard helmet uses HJC's second-generation PIM composite shell, while the Carbon version uses a carbon-fibre shell and has model-specific exterior details.
Choose an HJ-48 outer visor for either the standard or Carbon model.
Choose DKS642 for the compatible prepared HJ-48 visor.
No. The helmet is prepared for 11B, 21B and 50B systems, but the communication unit is sold separately.
