LS2 FF901 Advant X helmets use a convertible design with a chin bar that rotates to the rear. They are worth comparing when you want one helmet with open and closed configurations, but the fitting should cover both positions and the exact shell version.
The standard Advant X uses LS2’s HPFC composite shell. Advant X Carbon is a separate carbon-fibre model, including its rotating chin bar. Compare the actual versions on your head, with the strap fastened, rather than treating Carbon as just another finish. FF901 should remain part of any parts enquiry.
LS2 describes a 180-degree opening movement and ECE 22.06 P/J approval. Follow the helmet’s instructions for the permitted configurations and locking procedure. Practise the mechanism while stationary, checking that the chin bar closes and secures correctly. An open configuration changes facial coverage even when the helmet is approved for both modes.
The Advant X combines an outer visor prepared for Pinlock Max Vision with an internal sun visor. Check operation with gloves and spectacles, and confirm the supplied insert and shields for the exact package. Any communication system needs a model-specific installation check; do not assume a clamp that fitted a previous helmet is suitable for this shell.
Bring your usual riding equipment when comparing helmets. If you need a replacement component, bring the helmet or its exact model, version and size details.
