The new LS2 Spectrum Evo intercom brings a properly integrated communication system to a wide selection of LS2 helmets. Co-developed with Midland and equipped with 40 mm RCF speakers, it combines clear sound, AI-powered noise cancellation and an extra-slim control unit with the everyday functions riders actually use.
Whether you ride alone with music and navigation, travel with a passenger or want to stay in contact with other riders, the Spectrum Evo is designed to keep the setup simple. It is available to pre-order from Moto Central for £159.99.
A Communication System Made for LS2 Helmets
Universal motorcycle intercoms can work well, but a system developed around the helmet range has a clear advantage. The Spectrum Evo has a low-profile form that sits neatly against the shell, helping the helmet retain a clean appearance while keeping the main controls easy to reach with a gloved hand.
The system supports calls, music, turn-by-turn navigation, voice assistants and rider-to-rider communication. It can also connect to compatible smartphones, GPS units and motorcycle TFT displays, making it suitable for commuting, weekend riding and longer touring journeys.
RCF Audio with 40 mm Ultra HD Speakers
Sound quality is one of the Spectrum Evo’s strongest features. LS2 uses 40 mm Ultra HD speakers developed by RCF, a respected professional audio specialist. The larger speaker format is designed to deliver fuller sound for music, speech and navigation instructions without requiring a bulky external unit.
Correct speaker placement remains important. Aligning each speaker closely with the ear can make a noticeable difference to volume, balance and clarity. Many compatible LS2 helmets include dedicated speaker recesses, helping the installation sit comfortably beneath the lining.
AI-Powered Noise Cancellation
Wind, engine and road noise can make an ordinary helmet microphone difficult to hear at speed. The Spectrum Evo uses AI-powered noise cancellation to identify and reduce unwanted background sound, helping speech remain clearer during calls and intercom conversations.
The supplied boom microphone includes a foam wind sock to control direct airflow around the microphone. Careful positioning close to the rider’s mouth will provide the best results while keeping the microphone clear of the lips and helmet lining.
Up to Four Riders Can Be Paired
The Spectrum Evo can connect up to four riders, with a stated open-terrain range of up to 1,200 metres. It is important to understand how the conversation system works: up to four riders may be paired, but only two riders can speak together at one time. It does not provide a four-way conference conversation.
Three dedicated intercom buttons make it easy to select the paired rider you want to contact. Universal connectivity also allows the system to pair with compatible intercoms from other brands, which is useful when riding groups do not all use the same equipment.
What “Four Riders” Means
You can store connections for up to three other intercoms and choose which rider to speak with. Each live conversation remains a two-person connection.
Bluetooth 5.1 and Everyday Connectivity
Phone and Navigation
Connect a smartphone for calls, music and voice-assistant access, or receive instructions from a compatible GPS.
Motorcycle TFT
The system can connect to compatible motorcycle TFT displays. LS2 recommends pairing the phone through the display where appropriate.
Voice Assistant
A double press of the central button activates a connected assistant such as Siri or Google Assistant.
Bluetooth 5.1 provides the wireless foundation, while the supporting app can be used for configuration and upgrades. Firmware updates are completed through BTUpdater on a Windows PC using the charging cable.
Music, Calls and Passenger Sharing
Music playback can be started or paused by holding the central button, while double presses on the forward and rear buttons move between tracks. Music Share lets a rider share audio with a passenger after opening the intercom connection.
Music cannot play during an active intercom conversation. It pauses automatically when the conversation begins and resumes after the intercom connection closes. Calls can be answered or ended using any button, and an optional automatic-answer function can accept a call after eight seconds.
Up to 20 Hours of Conversation
LS2 quotes up to 20 hours of conversation time, giving the Spectrum Evo enough capacity for long riding days and multi-day trips with sensible charging. A full charge takes approximately three hours.
Actual battery performance will depend on volume, connection type, temperature and how frequently the intercom is used. Even so, the quoted endurance places it comfortably within the needs of most touring and everyday riders.
Waterproof for All-Weather Riding
The control keypad is fully waterproof, so the Spectrum Evo can remain in use when the weather changes. That matters for a unit mounted permanently on the outside of a motorcycle helmet, particularly for UK riders who cannot rely on dry conditions.
As with any helmet electronics, charging ports should be closed securely before riding and the unit should be allowed to dry naturally before connecting a charging cable.

The Spectrum Evo supports an extensive selection of current LS2 full-face, modular, open-face, off-road and adventure helmets. Compatibility includes the following models:

Moto Central Verdict
The LS2 Spectrum Evo is a convincing choice for riders who want more than basic helmet audio without moving into an unnecessarily complicated communication system. Its RCF speakers, AI noise cancellation, long talk time and waterproof controls cover the essentials well, while the slim LS2-specific installation keeps the finished helmet looking tidy.
The four-rider wording needs to be understood correctly because conversations remain two-way rather than conference-based. For solo riders, touring pairs and groups who are comfortable selecting one connection at a time, it offers a strong balance of sound, endurance and usability.
