The Arai Tour-X4 is an adventure helmet designed around different peak, visor and goggle configurations. That versatility makes setup and fit central to choosing and owning one, whether your route is mainly road or includes unsealed sections. It has its own TX brow-vent visor system, so Tour-X5 accessories should never be selected simply because they belong to the next generation.
Arai’s Tour-X4 specification, also documented by Suzuki for its V-Strom edition, supports use with or without the peak and with a visor or goggles. Decide which arrangement suits the journey, then follow the helmet instructions when changing it. Check goggle clearance and the resulting field of view in person. On the motorcycle, the peak’s relationship with the screen and your riding posture is worth assessing before a long trip.
The Tour-X4 has double-D retention, front and brow ventilation, a chin vent and rear exhaust arrangements. Its Dry-Cool interior includes replaceable comfort components. During a fitting, check the fastening, jaw contact and clearance around the nose with the intended eye protection in place. After a damp or dusty ride, use the specified care routine and let the comfort materials dry properly before storage.
Arai identifies the Tour-X4 visor as TX brow-vent, distinct from Tour-X5 VAS-A. Check that designation on the outer shield, then match the anti-fog insert to the shield itself. The gallery separates a complete helmet, clear outer visor and smaller insert so their functions are clear. If you need interior parts instead, record the liner size code and thickness; a headliner’s fit cannot be established from the helmet’s colour.
Before refreshing a Tour-X4 with new equipment, check its age and condition, including the strap, shell and impact liner. New screens or comfort pads do not reverse damage or ageing. Keep the original screws and component references available for identification, and follow the manual’s assembly guidance. If you are moving to a newer helmet, compare the complete setup and fit again rather than expecting your Tour-X4 accessories to transfer.
Bring your helmet when identifying replacement parts, or visit our showroom with your usual glasses and riding jacket to compare the fit of a complete helmet. We can help separate the helmet, visor and interior choices.
