The Arai RX-7 GP is an earlier sporting full-face helmet with a PB-SNC shell and an adjustable Air Wing. It uses the SAI visor family, a key distinction from the later RX-7V. Whether you are researching the helmet or identifying a service part, begin with the exact model label and keep the shell, visor and comfort-lining decisions separate.
Arai’s original RX-7 GP factsheet describes diffuser ventilation, brow vents and a three-position chin vent, alongside the adjustable rear Air Wing. Those controls deserve attention when assessing a helmet: inspect their condition and learn their operation before riding. Your riding posture, screen height and jacket all form part of a useful fit trial. A racing association does not by itself establish that a helmet is suitable for a particular event.
The RX-7 GP is listed by Arai with SAI visors; RX-7V belongs to a different system. Do not use a product’s presence in a collection as the only compatibility check. Match the helmet label and the visor reference on the individual item. The three illustrations here deliberately show SAI options: a Pro Shade assembly, a clear Max Vision outer visor and a separate Max Vision insert.
An insert fits inside an appropriate outer visor and is not an alternative to replacing a damaged shield. Check standard versus Max Vision designations before ordering, even after confirming SAI. A race visor and tear-off arrangement is another distinct specification, with its own intended use. Review the product’s markings, supplied components and restrictions rather than choosing solely by tint or a familiar RX name.
An RX-7 GP can be of considerable age. Establish its manufacture date and service history before spending on fresh graphics, vents or padding. Replacement comfort parts do not restore an ageing or damaged impact liner. If its condition is uncertain, seek an assessment and compare a replacement helmet. For a confirmed serviceable helmet, bring the original component or clear photographs of its reference so that a visually similar later-generation part is not substituted.
Bring your helmet when identifying replacement parts, or visit our showroom with your usual glasses and riding jacket to compare the fit of a complete helmet. We can help separate the helmet, visor and interior choices.
