Arai Chaser-X brings a full-face road helmet design together with a distinctive ventilation layout and the VAS visor system. It rewards a careful fit check and accurate parts identification, especially for riders maintaining a helmet over repeated commuting and touring journeys.
Arai’s Chaser-X factsheet describes a large upper intake and exhaust arrangement, brow vents and a three-position chin vent. Its shell uses Special Fibre Laminate construction. When comparing helmets, locate the controls and consider whether you can operate them comfortably with your riding gloves while stationary. The Chaser-X’s ducts are specific components, not generic Arai trim.
The model uses Arai’s Facial Contour System and a removable comfort interior. The cheek pads compress and recover to support the lower face, so assess them with the strap fastened rather than judging fit only as the helmet passes over your head. Bring your glasses to a fitting. Speaker pockets provide space, but an installed speaker still needs to avoid creating pressure or lifting the padding.
Chaser-X uses VAS, unlike the earlier Chaser V’s SAI arrangement. Identify the exact outer visor before selecting its anti-fog insert, and distinguish a Max Vision screen from other VAS versions. The helmet, outer screen and insert in the gallery illustrate those separate choices. Do not assume that a lens, holder or vent from another Chaser generation will fit.
Arai’s original Chaser-X factsheet records ECE 22.05; later models’ approvals should not be attributed to it. Check the actual helmet label and condition when comparing an older example. Replace worn comfort parts only with the correct size and model, and follow the cleaning and fitting instructions. If a vent, trim or mounting repair is described as a workshop operation, arrange the appropriate service rather than improvising a fixing.
Bring your helmet when identifying replacement parts, or visit our showroom with your usual glasses and riding jacket to compare the fit of a complete helmet. We can help separate the helmet, visor and interior choices.
