The Shoei EX-ZERO combines a pronounced chin bar and wide eye opening with styling inspired by early off-road helmets. It suits riders drawn to stripped-back road bikes and classic design, but its exposed face opening deserves as much attention as its appearance. Consider your eye protection, usual weather and riding position before choosing this distinctive full-face format.
Shoei equips the EX-ZERO with a retractable CJ-3 shield. Try its position with your normal riding glasses and check the view in a riding stance. An internal shield does not enclose the whole face opening like a conventional touring visor, so assess wind and weather exposure realistically.
The shape takes inspiration from Shoei's 1980s EX series. That heritage does not make it a substitute for every modern off-road or touring helmet. Think about regular commuting, longer journeys and the accessories you actually use; a good-looking combination should remain comfortable when you turn your head.
Check that the helmet sits securely without concentrated pressure and that the chin strap holds it in place. Compare complete helmets separately from peaks, shields and padding. When ordering a replacement part, use the EX-ZERO designation and the specified component reference rather than assuming all Shoei classic helmets share it.
