Racer 1927 Ronin Winter gloves use a segmented, armour-inspired look with a softshell and leather construction. This winter version combines insulation and weather protection with D3O pads across the back of the hand. It should be assessed separately from Ronin summer designs, even where the styling looks familiar.

What makes it the winter model

Racer specifies FIBERFILL insulation, a POLYMAX membrane and a goatskin palm for Ronin Winter. The D3O pads are a distinctive part of its design. Check the full model name on the product and label so a summer glove's description is not mistaken for the winter specification.

Fit around the segmented panels

Curl your fingers around a grip and check how the protective sections sit as your hand closes. Look for free movement at the finger joints and comfortable coverage across the knuckles. A glove that feels roomy with an open hand may behave quite differently when reaching for the levers.

Set the wrist and sleeve together

The model uses an elasticated tightening arrangement. Practise adjusting it with the other glove on, then check the jacket overlap with your arms extended. The fastening should retain the glove comfortably, and any sleeve bulk should not prevent the wrist from bending naturally.

Choose for real winter journeys

Think about ride duration, wind exposure and your own cold sensitivity when comparing insulated gloves. A membrane and insulation serve different purposes, and neither replaces a good fit. Follow the supplied care guidance for the mixed leather and textile construction; inspect fastening points and palm wear regularly.
