Moose Racing S18Y M1.3 youth boots bridge the gap between the smaller child model and adult off-road footwear. The priority is a secure fit that lets a growing rider use the footpegs, gear lever and rear brake confidently. Youth sizing and the boot’s height deserve as much attention as the protective panels.

Measure before moving up a size

The M1.3 youth chart uses sizes 1 to 7 with corresponding foot-length measurements. It is distinct from the child range and should not be converted by guesswork from everyday shoes. Measure both feet, use the correct chart and try the boots with riding socks. Check that the heel stays located without crowding the toes or tightening the straps excessively.

A supportive lower boot

Moose specifies a low-profile toe box, a composite-shank reinforced sole and a multi-layer synthetic-rubber outsole. The upper combines coated synthetic material with TPU panels and an inner-calf suede guard. Assess those features together on the bike: the rider should be able to move between the peg and controls without the boot being loose or the toe catching.

Check height and protective overlap

Bring knee protection and riding trousers to the fitting. The top of the boot needs to close around that combination comfortably, with no hard overlap pressing into the leg. Ask the rider to bend the knees and adopt a standing riding position. Repeat the fit check periodically as feet and calves grow; the next numerical size is not automatically the next suitable boot.

Maintain the youth fastening system

The M1.3 parts catalogue distinguishes youth long and short strap-and-buckle kits from the child kits. Match the replacement to the exact boot before fitting it. After muddy use, clean according to the supplied guidance and inspect the straps, buckle bases and sole for damage. The published youth model is certified to EN 13634:2015; check the actual boot label for its complete marking.
