Motorcycle Armoured Vests

Motorcycle armoured vests and protective shirts carry impact protection in a separate wearable layer. Compare passive armour carriers and airbag systems by their protected zones, intended riding use and fit with your outer clothing. Check exactly what is included, how the protection is retained and what the system needs before each ride.

Choose the type of wearable protection
Passive armour vests
These carry protective components without needing an airbag deployment. Alpinestars' Nucleon Flex Pro Protection Vest combines separately rated Level 2 chest and back protection in a mesh carrier. Compare the actual zones and adjustment rather than assuming every vest protects the same areas.
Protective shirts and jackets
Sleeved layers can carry shoulder and elbow armour as well as torso protection. Check each included component and how the sleeves retain it. Think about whether you need a torso-only vest or a more extensive layer beneath your riding clothing.
Electronic airbag systems
Airbags have their own operating and compatibility requirements. Alpinestars' Tech-Air 5 Plasma is an under-jacket system with an integrated back protector and different riding modes. Choose by the supported riding use and instructions for the exact system, including its correct setup and status checks.
Off-road torso protection
Protective vests and carriers for off-road use need to work with jerseys, neck equipment and other worn kit. Compare retention, movement and the chest and back specifications separately. Extra padding around a zone does not by itself establish that zone's impact certification.
Check what each layer protects
Read the component list and the relevant certification for each body area. A sleeveless vest may leave shoulder and elbow protection to the outer jacket or separate equipment. Compare chest protectors and back protectors if you only need one component.
Impact armour and the abrasion performance of the clothing around it are separate considerations. Use the vest within the outfit described by its manufacturer, with appropriate motorcycle outer clothing for your riding.
Fit the complete outfit before riding
Use the vest's size guide and check its length, waist adjustment and arm openings with your normal layers. Fasten the outer jacket and adopt your riding position. The carrier should keep its components located correctly without uncomfortable pressure or restricted movement.
For airbags, follow the system's specific clearance and garment-compatibility instructions. Requirements can differ between jackets and suits. Alpinestars provides a Tech-Air compatibility checker for its garments; do not apply a generic sizing rule to every combination or add extra armour without checking the system guidance.
Understand the airbag ownership requirements
Before choosing an electronic system, check activation, charging, available riding modes, any registration or subscription requirements, and the process after deployment. Establish which servicing or replacement operations the manufacturer permits the user to perform. These details belong to the exact model and can affect how it fits into your riding routine.
Care for the carrier and protection separately
Follow the product's instructions before removing components or cleaning the garment. An electronic airbag needs its own care procedure. Inspect closures and retaining areas regularly, and use the manufacturer's assessment and replacement guidance after damage or an incident.
Compare the complete protection setup
Bring your outer jacket or suit to Moto Central in Wolvey when considering an armoured vest or airbag. We can help check fit and identify the relevant compatibility and setup guidance for the system you are considering.
