Biltwell visors range from snap-on shields for classic helmet shapes to hinged screens made for a particular Gringo S or Lane Splitter generation. Start with the helmet label and fastening system, then choose the visibility and coverage you need. A familiar outline or matching colour is not enough to establish fit.
Separate a three-snap bubble shield, a five-snap Gringo Blast shield and a hinged replacement screen when comparing options. Their attachment arrangements serve different helmets. Check the exact product application, including any adaptor or baseplate requirement, before considering the finish. The examples shown illustrate different systems rather than interchangeable alternatives.
Biltwell states that the R22.06 Gringo S and Gringo SV shield will not work on the older R22.05 Gringo S because the closure changed. Gen 1 and Gen 2 hardware terminology also appears in the range, so match both the shield generation and the helmet version. Do not use a baseplate upgrade as evidence that every newer shield will fit.
Clear, smoke and mirrored finishes should be compared for the light in which you actually ride, including the return trip. Check the individual shield's markings and use restrictions. Anti-fog treatment and a Pinlock-equipped assembly are different arrangements; establish whether an insert is included and whether the outer screen is specifically designed to accept it.
Follow the care instructions for the chosen shield. Biltwell recommends mild soapy water and microfibre cloths for its Gringo S/SV screen, avoiding harsh household and petroleum-based cleaners. Loosen road debris before wiping. When fitting a replacement, use the correct instructions and verify that the hinges, latch and full opening movement operate properly.
Visit our showroom with the riding kit you normally use. We can help compare fit, check how separate pieces work together and identify the right model before you choose.
