Alpinestars textile jackets cover very different riding needs, from daily commuting and longer tours to warm-weather road use. Start with your usual temperature, exposure to rain and riding position. Then compare the jacket construction, protective equipment and fit with the rest of your clothing.
A waterproof membrane, thermal liner and ventilation panels do separate jobs. Check which layers are fixed, removable or supplied separately. As one example, the Andes Air Drystar combines extensive mesh with a detachable waterproof layer that can be worn over or beneath the jacket. That arrangement should not be assumed for every Drystar jacket.
A longer touring cut can offer useful overlap with trousers, while a shorter jacket may suit a more tucked riding position. Try reaching for the bars with the pockets loaded as you would use them. Check collar comfort, sleeve length and whether cuff adjustments work with your gloves. Leave realistic room for your usual layers without allowing the jacket to hang loosely.
Read the garment rating and the included shoulder, elbow and back protection for the exact model. A back-protector pocket does not mean an insert is included. Airbag compatibility also depends on the particular jacket and system, so follow their fitting instructions. Check the trouser connection before planning a matching outfit.
Pair your choice with Alpinestars textile trousers, or compare leather jackets.
Bring your gloves and usual layers to Moto Central so you can assess cuff overlap, movement and fit together.
