The ABUS 10KS170 170cm Motorcycle Security Chain Black is a heavy-duty 10mm chain designed to be paired with a suitable padlock when securing a motorcycle to a fixed object. Its additional reach is useful where an anchor point sits further from the bike, or where the chain needs to pass through more than one secure structural point.
ABUS makes the chain from special hardened steel and covers it with a fabric sleeve to help reduce direct contact with paintwork and chrome. This is the chain only, giving you the flexibility to choose a padlock that suits your security setup.

Using the chain with a motorcycle
Route the chain through a strong part of the motorcycle and around a secure ground or wall anchor where possible. Keep the chain clear of hot exhaust components, brake lines, wiring and moving parts. Avoid leaving it resting on the ground, as this can give an attacker a firm surface against which to work.
The sleeve reduces direct metal-to-paint contact, but it cannot guarantee against marks. Check that the sleeve and motorcycle surfaces are clean before fitting, particularly where road grit may be present.
Choosing between the 140cm and 170cm versions
The 170cm version offers more reach for larger motorcycles, awkwardly positioned anchors or securing more than one object. The shorter 140cm version is lighter and may be easier to carry. Measure the intended locking route rather than relying only on the straight-line distance, allowing enough length to pass around both the motorcycle and anchor.
