Explore motocross helmets for off-road riding, with adult and junior models from Shoei, LS2, SMK, Arai, Just1 and other brands. Compare the fit, eye port, peak and lining, then check the helmet with your chosen goggles. For competition or road-connected routes, confirm the exact model's approval and the requirements that apply to your riding.

Choose the helmet and goggles as a combination
A motocross helmet is only part of your off-road headwear setup. Bring the goggles you intend to use when checking fit. The frame should sit properly around your eyes without being pushed out of position by the helmet, and the strap should sit securely in its intended position on the shell.
Look ahead in your normal riding stance and check your view around the peak and eye port. Compare lens and goggle accessories separately, including any tear-off or roll-off arrangement you use. A wide-looking opening does not guarantee compatibility with every goggle frame.
What to compare in an adult motocross helmet
Everyday off-road options
SMK Allterra, LS2 Fast 2 and Just1 J39 models give you different shapes and specifications to compare. Check the fastening, lining removal, ventilation arrangement and replacement peak availability. Choose your model and size before narrowing the graphics.
Model-specific protective technology
Shoei's VFX-WR 06 uses its Motion Energy Distribution System, or M.E.D.S., designed to reduce rotational acceleration in an impact. That is a feature of this model, not a specification to assume across the category. Compare the manufacturer's explanation alongside fit and approval.
Choosing a junior motocross helmet
Junior models, such as LS2 Mini designs, deserve their own fitting check. Use the measurements and size chart for the junior model you are considering. An adult size with a similar label is not automatically the same fit.
Buy for the rider's current head size rather than leaving extra space to grow. Check the helmet with the strap secured and the rider's goggles in place. Reassess fit as the rider grows, and do not let a preferred graphic override a suitable size and shape.
Check event and road-use requirements before buying
A motocross appearance alone does not establish eligibility for a race, practice venue or road section. Read the approval on the exact helmet and check the organiser's current rules, including any additional marking they require. For routes using public roads, check the applicable road-use requirements too.
Keep generation names clear when comparing products. For example, the VFX-WR 06 specification should not simply be transferred to every earlier VFX-WR listing. The same care applies to replacement interiors, peaks and other fittings.
Plan for cleaning and replacement parts
Dust, mud and regular use make access to the lining and vents practical considerations. Follow the manufacturer's cleaning and drying instructions rather than treating every material or coating alike. Inspect the peak fittings, strap and goggles when preparing your kit.
If you need a replacement component, browse helmet spare parts with the complete model name. Do not alter the protective liner to accommodate accessories or use an attachment that the manufacturer does not permit.
