Trials motorcycle gear needs to work with frequent changes of body position, precise control inputs and time spent standing on the pegs. Choose clothing, boots and a helmet as parts of one comfortable arrangement, while checking the protection and intended use of each item. Familiar motocross styling does not by itself establish that a product has the movement or fit you want for trials.

Give boot movement and sole feel attention
Try trials boots with your riding socks and any knee or shin protection. Bend at the ankle and knee, check heel security and assess how the boot sits around the calf. Forma’s Boulder is described by its maker as a trials and light-duty off-road boot, demonstrating that this category has designs distinct from more rigid motocross footwear. Compare the sole and fastening arrangement as well as the size label; do not assume every tall off-road boot feels the same on the controls.
Choose head and eye protection deliberately
Helmet coverage, fit and ventilation should suit your riding and the requirements of your event or venue. Open-face trials-style designs leave areas of the face uncovered, so compare coverage consciously and choose suitable eye protection. Secure the strap and check for movement or pressure points rather than selecting only by shell appearance. Confirm the exact helmet’s approval and intended use before relying on it for road-linked riding.
Keep clothing clear of movement
Check that sleeves allow easy reach and that the trouser waist stays secure when you crouch or lean forward. Knee protection should remain in position without making the clothing tight behind the joint. Add weather layers without creating loose material around the controls. Inspect boot buckles, soles and clothing seams after use, and follow the relevant cleaning and helmet inspection instructions. A careful fitting matters more than matching every item to one brand.
For other disciplines, compare off-road motorcycle clothing and helmets.
Check your trials riding position
Bring socks and protective equipment to Moto Central to compare available gear while standing, bending and reaching as you would on the bike.
