Helmets with an internal sun visor provide a separate tinted screen behind the outer face shield. They offer a convenient way to manage changing brightness, but mechanism access, clearance and optical comfort should be checked during fitting, alongside the helmet’s overall fit.

Two screens with different roles
The sun visor and outer face shield are separate parts. Shoei’s GT-Air 3 illustrates this with its QSV-2 sun visor and CNS-1C outer shield. Anti-fog insert provision belongs to the named shield system; it should not be assumed to apply to every surface inside the helmet.
Test clearance and controls
With the helmet securely fastened, lower and raise the sun visor while stationary. Check clearance around your nose and spectacles, and confirm you can find the control wearing gloves. The convenience of a sun visor should not persuade you to accept a helmet shape that does not suit your head.
Adapt to the light
Use the tinted screen only in conditions permitted by its instructions and retract it when appropriate for reduced light. Clean each surface as directed, avoiding unsuitable chemicals and force on the mechanism. For replacements, use the exact helmet and visor reference. Similar-looking internal screens are not necessarily interchangeable.
