Sena intercoms connect riders in different ways, from rider-to-pillion conversations to group communication, phone audio and navigation prompts. The right system depends on who you ride with, which helmets are involved and the communication method already used by the group. Compare the exact models and their features before choosing by appearance or Bluetooth version alone.
Bluetooth for a phone connection is not the same as Bluetooth rider-to-rider intercom. SPIDER ST1 uses Mesh for intercom conversations while also connecting to a phone by Bluetooth. The 30K offers both Mesh and Bluetooth intercom functions. Check which method each rider’s unit supports and follow the relevant pairing or group setup instructions. Firmware and operating mode can matter when combining systems, so verify the proposed combination rather than assuming all Sena units connect identically.
Externally mounted units and helmet-specific integrated systems have different installation requirements. SRL3, for example, is designed for specified Shoei models including Neotec 3 and GT-Air 3; it is not a universal fit for every Shoei helmet. Check the exact helmet model, microphone arrangement and speaker space. Assess access to the controls with gloves and make sure the installation remains comfortable with the helmet properly fastened.
Consider whether your priority is a regular pillion conversation, changing riding groups or navigation and phone audio. Compare charging arrangements and the battery information for the functions you will actually use. Intercom range depends on terrain, obstructions and the riding arrangement, so an advertised maximum is not a guaranteed separation distance. Install, update and practise the controls before travelling, and keep any required charging lead accessible.
For replacement speakers, mounts or controls, check Sena intercom accessories against your chosen unit.
Bring your helmet model and the names of the intercoms used by your regular riding partners to Moto Central when comparing available Sena systems.
