Other models can use different materials or omit a waterproof membrane entirely.

Likewise, ankle cups, shin panels, toe and heel reinforcement, sole construction and certification must be checked on the individual boot. D3O appears in the names or specifications of selected products such as Rush D3O, but it is not a brand-wide feature.

Test the boot in a riding position. You need enough movement to operate the gear lever and rear brake accurately, but excessive movement inside the boot can undermine control and comfort. Also check how the trouser hem sits over or inside the boot without bunching around the closure.
