The Spada Orion 2 is a flip-front helmet intended to make commuting and longer road rides easier to manage. It combines an internal sun visor, a prepared outer visor and a removable interior with the convenience of a lifting chin bar. The second-generation name is significant when checking approvals, fitting replacement parts or comparing it with the original Orion.
Spada specifies ECE 22.06 and P/J homologation for the Orion 2, covering its full-face and open-face configurations when used as instructed. Confirm those markings on the exact helmet and follow the manual's locking procedure. Riding with the front raised leaves the face exposed even where the configuration is approved. Choose the position to suit the conditions, and stop before adjusting the chin section.
The brand lists an ABS shell, two shell sizes and a quick-release chin strap. Fit still needs to be assessed on your own head with the strap adjusted and the chin bar closed. Check room around the mouth, steady cheek contact and whether spectacles sit comfortably. Wear your normal jacket to assess collar clearance. An easy-to-open front is useful only if the helmet remains secure and comfortable when shut.
The drop-down sun visor handles bright light, while the outer visor and matching anti-fog insert form a different system. Spada names DKS166 for the relevant Pinlock application. Confirm the actual visor preparation and supplied insert in the individual package, because catalogue descriptions and package contents can vary. Clean and fit the optical components as instructed, and keep the ventilation channels clear rather than expecting an insert to replace airflow.
SHARP awarded the Orion 2 four stars in May 2024 and recorded the face guard staying locked in 83% of the relevant impact tests. That result belongs to the tested Orion 2, not every helmet carrying the Orion name. Keep the model distinction when choosing pads, plates or visors. A shared DKS166 insert does not prove wider part compatibility. Inspect the latch and strap during routine care, and replace damaged helmets rather than relying on new comfort pieces to restore protection.
Bring your helmet when identifying replacement parts, or visit our showroom with your usual glasses and riding jacket to compare the fit of a complete helmet. We can help separate the helmet, visor and interior choices.
