The Nolan N30 family offers a different approach to everyday motorcycle and scooter headwear, with the N30-4 placing a strong emphasis on airflow and configurable eye coverage. Compare the exact version, including the N30-4 T examples shown here, rather than assuming every N30 shares the same visor, peak or supplied accessories.
Nolan’s N30-4 instructions distinguish the NJS-11 long visor from the NJS-12 goggle-style shield, alongside peak and cover arrangements. These are separate configurations with specific fittings. Check the version supplied and the accessories approved for it before buying parts. A short shield leaves more of the face exposed; assess that trade-off against the weather and roads you normally encounter.
The manufacturer describes always-open front and top intakes with rear exhaust outlets, designed to provide airflow even at moderate or lower speeds. That makes weather planning relevant as well as summer comfort. Nolan documents a water-and-wind-resistant cap, with supply depending on the package. Confirm compatibility and contents rather than assuming this accessory is included.
The N30-4 has a Lexan polycarbonate shell and removable comfort padding. Choose a size that stays stable when correctly fastened, and check the shield with your usual glasses. Follow the manual when removing padding or refitting side covers; small fittings are part of the intended assembly. For different levels of face coverage, compare the broader Nolan helmet range.
Seeing the shield and helmet together makes it easier to judge coverage, clearance and whether this airy design suits your everyday route.
