The Nexx X.40 is a configurable helmet family built around a removable chin-protection section and a broad face opening. It is worth understanding the approved configurations, shell version and optional equipment before comparing an X.40 helmet or ordering parts for one you already own.
The X.40's chin section detaches rather than folding over the helmet. Nexx's technical documentation describes the European version as approved under ECE 22.05 in both Jet and full-face configurations. Check the individual helmet label and instructions, fit the chin protection correctly when using that configuration, and recognise that removing it leaves the lower face uncovered.
Nexx documents both X-Matrix composite and Carbon versions of the X.40. Those are construction choices, while the optional peak and different shield arrangements concern configuration. A manufacturer illustration with a peak fitted does not mean that the peak is supplied with every helmet. Compare the exact product specification and required fittings.
The X.40 uses an outer shield with a quick-change mechanism and spring-loaded base plates designed to pull it towards the seal. It also has a separate internal sun visor. Identify which component needs replacing and inspect the mounting parts as well as the screen itself. An X.40 part should not be substituted with an X.T1 or another Nexx item because the brand matches.
Assess the helmet in the configuration you intend to use, with the strap secured and any glasses in place. Check the chin-section connections after refitting, and use the model instructions for the removable lining. A configurable helmet adds useful choice, but it also makes correct assembly an important part of each change.
Bring your X.40 and any detached components when discussing fit or spares. We can help compare the configuration and identify whether you need a visor, peak fitting or another model-specific part.
