MT Thunder 3 SV is a name that needs a careful second look: MT produced a full-face Thunder 3 SV and a separate Thunder 3 SV Jet. Both use an internal sun visor, but their face coverage, outer shields and replacement-part references differ.
The full-face version has a fixed chin section; the Jet is open around the lower face. Choose between those layouts according to the coverage you want, rather than assuming a large Jet visor replaces a protective chin bar. MT documents HIRP shells and micrometric fastenings for these original models, but the label and instructions on the individual helmet remain the guide to its approval and use.
The original full-face Thunder 3 SV uses MT-V-12. The Thunder 3 SV Jet uses MT-V-19, with a taller screen shaped for the open-face shell. Our Jet visor illustration is deliberately identified as MT-V-19 so it is not mistaken for a full-face replacement. Record the exact model name and existing visor code before selecting either a shield or an anti-fog accessory.
The internal sun visor is separate from the outer shield. Check that it moves freely and clears your nose and glasses, and assess the available view from your normal riding posture. For the Jet, consider the exposed lower face and airflow around the screen; for the full-face model, check cheek support and comfort with the shield closed.
Use the correct model instructions when removing the screen or padding. Closely inspect both visor mounts and the strap, and avoid forcing a part that only appears to be a near match. Neither a different tint nor a replacement liner changes the helmet's original protection layout or repairs impact damage.
Bring the helmet, not just the Thunder 3 name, when asking us to identify parts. We can help distinguish the full-face and Jet layouts and compare the markings on the existing screen.
