The MDS MD200 is a flip-front motorcycle helmet with an outer visor, a separate internal sun visor and removable comfort padding. Understanding those systems is useful both when assessing the helmet and when identifying replacement parts. The model name matters: an MD200 component should be chosen against the helmet's own label and instructions, not simply the MDS badge.

The MD200's modular layout
The manufacturer's MD200 manual identifies a thermoplastic shell and EPS impact liner. Its chin guard releases through an internal button and must click into its closed position. The manual calls for checking the lock by trying to lift the guard without pressing the release. Use the opening feature when stopped and follow the helmet's instructions for riding configuration; a lifting front is not evidence of approval to ride open.
Three different pieces of the view ahead
The main visor, internal sun visor and anti-fog insert are distinct items. A replacement outer visor needs the correct attachment lugs, while the sun visor follows its own guides beside the cheek pads. The illustrated insert is another separate component and requires a matching prepared visor. Check the exact part description and fittings. A shared brand name or similar curved shape does not establish interchangeability.
Comfort and ventilation over time
The MD200 manual shows top and face intakes with rear extractors, as well as removable crown and cheek padding. Keep the air paths unobstructed and use the specified cleaning method before refitting the pads securely. The micrometric fastening still needs its strap length adjusted to the wearer. If the helmet has become loose, assess its overall condition rather than treating new padding as a remedy for every fit problem.
Use the test evidence in context
SHARP records a four-star result for the MD200 and reports that the face guard stayed locked in all its relevant impact tests. This is evidence about the tested model, not a promise about every possible collision or an ageing individual helmet. Check fit and condition first. A replacement visor or liner can address wear in that component, but it cannot repair a damaged shell or compressed impact liner.
