The Icon Ultraflite is a current ECE 22.06 full-face road helmet with an intermediate-oval fit, Mips system, large eye port and internal sun shield. Most versions use Icon's handcrafted composite fibreglass shell, while the Ultraflite Carbon uses a separate carbon-composite construction.

Solid colours and graphics share the same basic road-focused platform, but shell material and the outer shields supplied can differ by exact model. Choose fit and specification first, then compare colour, graphic and current size availability.

Blue Icon Ultraflite Doodle 3 Mips motorcycle helmet — Doodle 3 uses the composite fibreglass Ultraflite shell and includes the Mips system.

Matt black and red Icon Ultraflite Misanthrope Mips motorcycle helmet — Misanthrope shows the recessed twin-channel Speedwing Supervent and angular profile.

Black Icon Ultraflite Carbon Mips motorcycle helmet — Ultraflite Carbon changes the shell to a handcrafted carbon composite while retaining the core vision and ventilation systems.

Fibreglass or carbon shell?

The standard Ultraflite and graphic versions use a handcrafted composite fibreglass shell. The Carbon model uses a handcrafted carbon-composite shell. Both are listed to ECE 22.06 for the European market and use Icon's intermediate-oval Sport Fit.

Carbon construction should not replace a proper fit check. Measure around the widest part of the head, start with the chart on the exact product page and assess even crown pressure, cheek-pad contact and retention with the helmet fully fastened.

Mips and fit

Icon states that all Ultraflite models have a Mips low-friction layer. It is designed to allow limited multi-directional movement in certain angled impacts. It does not alter the need for correct sizing, secure fastening or replacement after a significant impact.

The crown should feel evenly supported without a concentrated pressure point.
The cheek pads should be firm when new and keep the helmet stable.
Rotating the helmet should move the scalp rather than let the shell slide freely.
The eye port, outer shield and internal sun shield should remain correctly positioned.
Confirm that the helmet cannot roll forward off the head when fastened.

Ultrashield and Dropshield Ultra

The Ultraflite uses a quick-change Ultrashield outer visor with a positive lock and a separate oversized dark-smoke Dropshield Ultra inside the eye port. Icon lists Pinlock-ready outer shields on selected versions, with model-specific inserts available separately. Check the exact product page for the shield colour or colours included, as graphic and solid versions are not always packaged identically.

Night riding: use a suitable clear outer shield after dark. The dark-smoke internal Dropshield is intended for bright conditions and is not a substitute for clear night vision.

Ventilation, liner and communication

Four intake vents, including the prominent chin vent, work with two exhaust ports and channels in the EPS liner. The twin-channel Speedwing Supervent manages rear airflow and contributes to stability. The removable Hydradry comfort liner wicks moisture, while a removable chin curtain can help manage draughts and buffeting.

The Ultraflite is prepared for Icon's HelmLink Bluetooth system, sold separately. During installation, keep speakers and wiring clear of the liner's fit surfaces and follow Icon's routing instructions so no pressure point is introduced.

Customer questions

Do all Icon Ultraflite helmets have a carbon shell?

No. Most versions use a composite fibreglass shell. Only the Ultraflite Carbon product in this collection uses the carbon-composite construction.

Does every Ultraflite have Mips?

Yes. Icon states that all Ultraflite models are equipped with the Mips system.

What head shape does the Ultraflite suit?

Icon specifies an intermediate-oval Sport Fit. Measure first, then check for even pressure and secure retention because head shape cannot be determined by circumference alone.

Does the Ultraflite have an internal sun visor?

Yes. It uses the oversized dark-smoke Dropshield Ultra behind the main outer shield.

Is a Pinlock insert included?

Do not assume it is. Selected Ultraflite outer shields are Pinlock-ready, but the insert and the shields supplied vary by exact product listing.
