Icon Patrol 3 waterproof boots combine a compact riding shape with a membrane lining and BOA adjustment. They suit comparisons centred on commuting, changeable weather and walking between rides, while still needing a careful check of foot support and trouser overlap.
Icon specifies a waterproof, breathable lining for Patrol 3. That lining works within the boot: water can still enter through an open top or poorly arranged trouser cuff. Check the exact supplied version before relying on a named membrane, because published descriptions have used different lining names. Waterproofing also does not tell you how warm a boot will feel.
Use the BOA dial to settle the upper around your foot, then walk and bend into a riding stance. Check for pressure over the instep and for a stable heel. A closure system provides adjustment within the correct size; it cannot make an unsuitable foot shape fit. Compare the listing's size conversion with your actual measurements and usual riding socks.
D3O ankle inserts, shifter reinforcement and a nylon midfoot shank are part of the published Patrol 3 construction. Evaluate gear-lever clearance and the feel of the sole on your footrests. The EVA insole is intended for comfort, while the low shaft makes seated trouser overlap especially important in rain.
The manufacturer lists EN 13634:2017 levels 1 1 1 1 WR SRA. Treat the slip-resistant outsole as assistance, not immunity to oil or smooth wet surfaces. Remove road dirt gently, keep the closure operating freely and dry the boots naturally. Follow the product's care instructions before applying treatments to its mixed-material upper.
