Gaerne SG-22

Shop Gaerne SG-22 motocross boots across nine colourways. The SG-22 is Gaerne's newer premium MX platform, combining Dual Stage Pivot System 1.0, a low-profile 3D toe box, adjustable aluminium buckles and a resoleable multi-density sole.
Every product in this collection is an SG.22 MX boot. The standard SG-22 is not the waterproof Enduro model, and it should be compared separately with SG-22 Enduro Gore-Tex and the established SG-12 range.

SG-22 technology explained
Dual Stage Pivot System 1.0
Two movement limiters are designed to restrict hyperextension, hyperflexion and lateral movement while refined geometry follows the ankle's controlled motion.
3D Main Body toe box
The lower-profile three-dimensional toe construction reduces the height between sole and gear lever to support quicker, more direct shifting.
Adjustable upper fit
Aluminium Superlight buckles provide multiple adjustments, while the front shin guard has two positions to help accommodate different calves and knee protectors.
Multi-density MX sole
Strategically placed dual-density inserts balance peg grip, durability, traction and cushioning. Goodyear-welted construction allows specialist resoling.
Nine SG-22 colourways
Moto Central's collection covers solid black, white and red alongside Black/White, Anthracite/Black/Red, Anthracite/White/Grey, Orange/White/Grey, Purple/White and White/Black/Blue.
The technology is shared across the collection, but size availability can vary considerably by colour. Some older or limited colourways may have only a small number of sizes remaining, so choose around correct fit before settling on graphics.
Important model distinction: the official name of the ankle system is Dual Stage Pivot System 1.0. These nine products are standard SG-22 MX boots, not SG-22 Enduro Gore-Tex.
SG-22 versus SG-12
SG-22 is Gaerne's newer top-level development, with revised pivot geometry, a redesigned toe box, aluminium Superlight buckles, dual-position shin adjustment, Grip Guard 1.0 and Memory Foam 1.0. The SG-12 remains a separate current platform with its established DSPS design and Dual Composite MX sole.
Neither model is automatically the better fit for every rider. Ankle volume, calf shape, knee-brace clearance, control feel and preferred stiffness all matter. Try both with your own riding kit where possible.
Standard SG-22 or Enduro Gore-Tex?
Choose standard SG-22 for its motocross-focused multi-density sole and ventilated MX construction. Choose SG-22 Enduro Gore-Tex when a treaded Enduro sole and waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex Extended membrane are required.
The standard SG-22 is not specified as waterproof. Air vents near the front plate and internal 3D channels are designed for airflow, moisture movement and heat dissipation, which is a different priority from a waterproof liner.
Fit and control checks
Measure both feet and try the boots with motocross socks, riding trousers and the knee protection you intend to wear. The heel should remain seated, the toes should clear the front and the foot should not move sideways inside the boot.
Begin with the buckles near the middle of their adjustment and close them progressively from the lower foot upwards. Use the shin-guard settings to establish clearance around the calf or knee protector without forcing the hardware.
Move between seated and standing riding positions and operate the gear lever and rear brake. Support should feel firm, but numbness, sharp pressure or crushed toes indicates that the size or adjustment needs attention.
Grip, interior support and certification
Grip Guard 1.0 rubber elements on the inner side support contact with the motorcycle and add heat protection. Memory Foam 1.0 is designed to stabilise the foot by shaping around the ankle, while the insole combines rear shock absorption with ventilation at the front.
Gaerne states that the current SG22 is CE certified to EN 13634:2017 under EU Regulation 2016/425 and made in Italy. Certification does not replace correct fit, maintenance or the rest of the rider's protective equipment.
Care and serviceability
Remove mud before it hardens around the pivot system, buckles, air channels and welted sole edge. Clean using products suitable for the materials and allow the boots to dry naturally away from direct heat.
Inspect the toe box, shin guard, pivot components, Grip Guard, buckles, straps and sole before every ride. Replacement parts and resoling must be confirmed for the exact SG-22 generation, size and boot condition.

Gaerne SG-22 questions
Are all nine products SG-22 MX boots?
Yes. The collection contains standard SG-22 motocross boots in different colours, not the Gore-Tex Enduro version.
What pivot system does SG-22 use?
Gaerne calls it Dual Stage Pivot System 1.0, using two movement limiters and refined ankle geometry.
Are standard SG-22 boots waterproof?
No waterproof membrane is specified. The separate Enduro Gore-Tex model is the weather-protected option.
How does SG-22 differ from SG-12?
SG-22 uses Gaerne's newer pivot geometry, toe box, buckle, shin-adjustment, Grip Guard and Memory Foam developments.
Can SG-22 boots be resoled?
The welted construction allows specialist resoling when the upper and protective structure remain in suitable condition.
Can Moto Central help compare sizes?
Yes. Contact us with both foot measurements and knee-protection details, or visit the showroom to compare SG-22 and SG-12 in person.
