Shop Gaerne SG-12 motocross boots across 16 colourways and graphic finishes. Every product in this collection is the MX version, combining Gaerne's Dual Stage Pivot System, four-buckle closure and welted Dual Composite sole.
SG-12 sits within Gaerne's premium off-road range and remains distinct from both the treaded SG-12 Enduro and the newer SG-22. Choose between them by fit, ankle-support feel, sole type and riding discipline rather than colour or price alone.

What defines the Gaerne SG-12?
Dual Stage Pivot System
Gaerne's DSPS is designed to provide lateral ankle support and restrict over-compression and hyperextension while preserving controlled movement at the controls.
Shin, heel and toe structure
The construction includes a PU-injected front shin plate, shaped heel cup and a precision-formed toe box intended to support protection and control feel.
Grip Guard and interior support
Rubber Grip Guard material on the inner side supports contact with the motorcycle and adds heat resistance. Gaerne Memory Cell Foam provides a shaped, supportive interior feel.
Welted Dual Composite sole
The motocross sole uses a tread pattern developed for grip on cross-pegs. Goodyear-welted construction allows specialist resoling when the rest of the boot remains serviceable.
Sixteen MX colours, one core platform
This collection includes solid black, white, red and blue alongside White/Black, Red/Black, Black/Yellow, Orange/Grey/White, Grey/Magnesium/White and Grey/Yellow/Black. Graphic options include Forge, Luxe, Realm and Portofino, with further multi-colour finishes also represented.
Colour does not change the collection's MX sole classification. Individual listings can differ in current price and size availability, and older graphics may have limited remaining stock. Check the live product page before choosing a finish around a required size.
MX versus Enduro: every boot on this page is titled as an MX model. The separate SG-12 Enduro uses Gaerne's Enduro sole for additional off-bike traction in challenging terrain.
SG-12 or SG-12 Enduro?
Choose the standard SG-12 when a motocross-focused sole and cross-peg contact are the priority. Choose SG-12 Enduro when the rider needs deeper tread for walking, pushing the motorcycle or putting a foot down on loose and uneven ground.
The upper support systems are closely related, but sole choice materially changes the boot's interaction with the ground. Inspect the product photographs and full title rather than assuming every SG-12 has the same tread.
SG-12 or SG-22?
SG-22 is Gaerne's newer top-level development, with revised pivot geometry, fit and component design. SG-12 remains a separate current model with its established Dual Stage Pivot System and welted platform. Neither is automatically the better fit for every rider.
Try both where possible. Calf shape, ankle volume, knee-brace clearance and preferred stiffness can matter more than choosing the newest model. Moto Central can help compare the two in our showroom.
How should SG-12 boots fit?
Measure both feet and try the boots with motocross socks, riding trousers and the knee protection you intend to use. The heel should remain seated, the toes should clear the front and the foot should not slide sideways. Support should feel firm without numbness or sharp pressure.
Start with all four straps near the middle of their adjustment and fasten the buckles progressively from the foot upwards. Check that the upper closes around the calf or knee brace without forcing the hardware. Move between seated and standing positions and make sure you can use the gear lever and rear brake comfortably.
Certification, waterproofing and care
Gaerne states that the current SG12 is CE certified to EN 13634:2017 under EU Regulation 2016/425 and made in Italy. Certification does not make the boot waterproof. No waterproof membrane is specified for the SG-12 MX range.
Remove mud before it hardens around the pivot areas, buckles and welted sole edge. Clean with products suitable for the materials and allow the boots to dry naturally away from direct heat. Avoid forcing closures or using high-pressure water around openings and hardware.
Before riding, inspect the shin plate, pivot components, heel, toe, Grip Guard, buckles, straps and sole. Replacement parts and resoling must be confirmed for the exact SG-12 generation, size and boot condition.
