The Bell Bullitt is a retro-styled full-face helmet inspired by early Star designs, with a prominent eye opening and a distinctive visor profile. It suits riders who want to explore classic styling without treating every vintage-looking helmet as the same product. Keep the original Bullitt separate from the later Bullitt GT when comparing helmets and accessories.
Bell's original Bullitt documentation describes a fibreglass composite helmet with a leather-trimmed interior and alternative shield options. Its appearance is part of the appeal, but use the exact model name to identify the specification. A Bullitt GT listing or accessory should not automatically be treated as suitable for an original Bullitt. If you already own one, a label photograph is more useful for identification than the colour scheme.
Try the helmet and look through the visor from your normal riding position. Bring your glasses and check that the frame sits comfortably within the eye opening. Consider how the shield shape feels around the nose and face as well as how it looks from outside. An accessory photograph may show a different shield style from the one included with a particular helmet, so verify the contents before ordering.
The original Bullitt uses a double-D retention system. Practise fastening it correctly and leave the helmet on long enough to notice local pressure. Do not choose a loose size just to make it easier to put on or accommodate eyewear. Ask for a fit check if the helmet moves independently of your head; a different graphic cannot resolve an unsuitable shape.
The original Bullitt appears in SHARP's historical ECE 22.05 model record. That record should not be transferred to the Bullitt GT or treated as proof of every helmet's markings. For an existing Bullitt, identify the visor, hardware and interior by the exact application. Check condition and service history alongside any proposed replacement parts, particularly when the age of the helmet is uncertain.
Bring your helmet when identifying replacement parts, or visit our showroom with your usual glasses and riding jacket to compare the fit of a complete helmet. We can help separate the helmet, visor and interior choices.
