Merlin Textile Trousers

Merlin textile trousers cover several quite different ways of riding. This collection includes laminated touring trousers, light mesh designs, dual-sport and in-boot options, technical wax-and-mesh trousers and casual-looking protective joggers. Comparing the construction matters more than choosing by appearance alone because weather protection, ventilation, fit and armour specification vary by model.

Protection, fit and leg length

EN 17092 classes apply to the complete garment. EN 1621 ratings apply to individual impact protectors, so the two should not be treated as interchangeable. Merlin specifies supplied D3O knee protection across the featured models, but hip armour may be included or only accommodated depending on the trouser. Read the product page before ordering and confirm that the knee cups sit over the kneecaps in a normal riding position.

• Try them in a riding posture: bend the knees and hips as you would on the bike. The waistband should remain secure and the armour should not rotate away from the joint.
• Check the available leg: some products list regular and short options, while others use a single leg length. Do not shorten a trouser through an armour pocket without specialist advice.
• Match the boot interface: an over-boot ankle needs enough adjustment to close neatly around the boot; an in-boot trouser must not create a bulky pressure point.
• Allow for layers: a removable thermal liner changes the internal room. Test the fit with the layers you expect to wear, without making the knee armour loose when the liner is removed.

Why buy Merlin trousers from Moto Central?

Moto Central brings the current products together with clear model names, colour listings and size choices, making it easier to compare a laminated adventure trouser with a mesh or casual option. Our Leicester showroom is useful when you want to check waistband comfort, knee-armour position and the way the ankle works with your own boots. You can also compare the wider textile motorcycle trouser range before deciding.

Availability changes by size and colour. Use each live product page for the current options or plan a showroom visit if hands-on fitting would help.

Care and useful checks

Follow the care label inside the exact garment. Remove protectors and detachable liners only where the instructions allow, close fasteners before cleaning and avoid fabric conditioner unless Merlin specifically permits it. Mesh, laminated fabric, waxed cotton and protective fleece require different care, so do not apply one washing routine to the whole collection. Let wet trousers dry naturally away from strong direct heat, then check seams, zips, hook-and-loop fasteners and armour placement before the next ride.
