Merlin Ladies Textile Trousers

This focused Merlin ladies textile trouser collection contains the Shenstone Cotec Air D3O trouser in black and olive. They are two colour listings of the same women-specific model, not two different constructions. Shenstone is designed as a lighter, tailored warm-weather alternative to a bulky touring trouser, combining Cotec waxed cotton with close-knit mesh panels.

What defines the Shenstone trouser?

Merlin uses 8 oz Halley Stevensons Cotec waxed cotton alongside large breathable mesh panels, with a fixed mesh lining. The construction is intended to move air in warm conditions while keeping the closer profile of a jean-style trouser. This is not the same proposition as a membrane-equipped waterproof touring trouser, so carry a suitable rain layer when the forecast requires one.

Fit checks before you ride

• Waist and seat: fasten the trousers over the base layers you will actually wear. The waistband should stay secure without cutting in when you lean forward.
• Knee position: sit in your normal riding posture and confirm that each protector covers the kneecap rather than dropping below it or twisting to the side.
• Hip placement: the low-profile Ghost protectors should lie flat over the hip bones. Recheck their position after washing or removal.
• Ankle and boot: make sure the trouser hem and your chosen boot overlap cleanly without a pressure point or exposed gap.
• Movement: walk, crouch and lift each knee. A tailored cut should remain comfortable through the full range of movement needed on the bike.

When is this model most suitable?

Shenstone makes sense for road riders who value airflow, a lighter feel and restrained heritage styling during warmer, mainly dry journeys. It is not presented here as an all-season waterproof trouser. For laminated, mesh, dual-sport and casual alternatives, see the broader Merlin textile trouser range or compare all textile motorcycle trousers.

Why choose Moto Central for Merlin ladies trousers?

Because this is a small, model-specific collection, the useful choice is not between long lists of near-identical products. It is between the two Shenstone colours and the sizes currently offered. Moto Central's Leicester showroom gives riders the opportunity to assess the women's cut, armour position and boot interface in a real riding posture. You can plan a showroom visit or use the live product pages to check current availability.

Care for waxed cotton and mesh

Follow the garment label and Merlin's product-specific guidance. Remove the D3O protectors only where instructed, close zips and fasteners before cleaning, and avoid fabric conditioner unless the manufacturer permits it. Do not use strong direct heat to dry wet trousers. Waxed cotton can require specialist reproofing over time, while the mesh panels must be handled carefully to avoid snagging. After cleaning, return the knee and hip armour to the correct pockets and orientation.
