Motorcycle Leather Clothing

Leather motorcycle clothing includes classic jackets, touring trousers, sporty two-piece outfits and one-piece suits. Choose by intended use, cut and the specification of the finished garment. Leather is a material description, not a complete statement of protection, weather performance or suitability for a particular event.

Choose the cut for your riding
Sport-focused clothing may be shaped for a more crouched position, while a road jacket can have a different balance of movement and everyday comfort. Try the garment in your actual riding stance and check knee bend, shoulder reach and waist coverage. Stretch sections and adjustment can help the fit, but they should not be used to explain away a garment that feels wrong.
Look beyond thickness and appearance
Compare the complete construction, protective certification, armour supplied and any optional inserts. Check whether ventilation comes from perforated panels or openings and whether a lining can be removed. Do not assume leather is waterproof. If rain is a regular part of your riding, decide how you will manage it and check the manufacturer’s weather claims for the exact garment.
Check connections and additional equipment
For separate jackets and trousers, confirm the joining zip is compatible rather than relying on a shared brand name. If you need an airbag, follow the airbag and clothing manufacturer’s fit and compatibility instructions. For track use, check the organiser’s current equipment requirements before buying. One-piece and two-piece suits may be treated differently by the event you intend to attend.
Care for the particular finish
Smooth, treated and suede-like leather finishes can need different care. BMW Motorrad’s leather guidance, for example, advises drying its clothing at room temperature away from radiators and direct sun. Use your own garment’s instructions to select cleaning and treatment methods, and seek specialist advice for significant stains or damage. A conditioner or waterproofing treatment is not a repair for a damaged seam or protective component.
