Leather motorcycle jackets range from close sporting cuts to longer heritage designs and relaxed road styles. Choose a motorcycle-specific garment for your riding, then compare its fit, protection, airflow and trouser connection. The appearance of leather alone does not establish a protection rating.

Fit the jacket with your arms forward
Try it in the posture you use on the bike. Check that the sleeves reach your gloves, the collar stays comfortable and the hem covers your lower back. Shoulder and elbow armour should remain in the intended positions. Allow for your usual layers without making the jacket loose enough for the protection to move around.
Choose how much airflow you need
Solid leather, perforated panels, mesh inserts and opening vents offer different approaches to warm-weather comfort. Manufacturers may sell both standard and perforated versions of the same family, as Dainese does with Racing 5. Check the complete model name. A ventilated jacket may need a separate weather layer; leather should not be assumed waterproof.
Read the protection and care details
Check the garment’s certification, supplied armour and optional inserts, then verify the connecting zip with your trousers. Airbag compatibility needs confirmation for the exact pairing. Different leather finishes also call for different care. Follow the label and manufacturer’s instructions, and ask before applying a conditioner or wax to an unfamiliar finish.
Compare textile jackets and leather trousers.
