Held motorcycle boots cover urban shoes, touring boots, adventure designs and taller sport options. Urban motorcycle shoes
Short designs such as Montaro WP prioritise a lower profile and day-to-day practicality. Check the certified protection, ankle structure and sole rather than assuming that a casual appearance means ordinary footwear.
Touring boots
Touring models balance weather protection, all-day fit and movement at the controls. Annone GTX 2 adds calf adjustment and a front opening, while the collection also includes other Gore-Tex, waterproof and non-membrane choices.
Adventure boots
A taller shaft, buckle closure and shin coverage can suit mixed-road travel and long days. Belrock is Held's current 36 cm adventure design in size 43, but height and construction should be checked for every model.
Sport and race boots
Held's Epco 3 uses a taller sport construction with shin protection, D3O ankle protection, heel reinforcement and a replaceable toe slider. It is not waterproof, illustrating why sport features and weather protection need separate checks.
Waterproof, ventilated or non-membrane?
A membrane can be valuable for commuting and touring in unsettled weather, but the membrane technology is not the same across the range. Held specifies Gore-Tex for Annone GTX 2, Sympatex for Belrock and Held-Tex for Montaro WP. Other models are designed without a waterproof membrane or with more open construction for warm conditions.
Waterproof performance also depends on how the boot is worn. The trouser cuff should direct water over the outside of the boot opening unless the clothing system is designed differently. Water can still enter from the top, and a waterproof label does not mean that every outer material should be neglected. Follow the care instructions for the exact leather, textile, microfibre and membrane combination.
How motorcycle boots should fit
Try motorcycle boots with the socks and riding trousers you expect to use. The heel should remain controlled when walking and when lifting the foot, but toes need enough room to move without striking the front. Check for pressure from zips, buckles, ankle cups and the gear-change pad.
Flex your ankle as if operating the gear lever and rear brake, then sit with the knee bent. A boot may feel acceptable while standing but pinch at the instep or calf in the riding position. Taller models also need to work with the lower leg of your Held textile trousers or Held leather trousers, whether the trouser is intended to sit over or inside the boot.
Check length and width
EU size is only the starting point. Foot width, toe shape and instep volume affect fit, while a thick sock can change the available space.
Check calf adjustment
Tall boots must close securely around the lower leg without compressing it. Test the fastening with the intended trouser and any base layer in place.
Check control feel
Make sure the toe fits beneath the gear lever and the sole can locate the footpeg. A new boot may soften with use, but it should not prevent safe control operation.
Check walking comfort
Urban and touring riders may spend time off the bike, but walking flexibility should not come from an insecure fit or a sole that twists excessively for the boot's intended use.
