Held Base Layers
16 products
Showing 1 - 16 of 16 products
Held motorcycle base layers help riders manage the space between skin and protective clothing. The Moto Central range includes lightweight cooling tops and leggings, warmer technical layers, one-piece race undersuits, women-specific versions and Held Clip-in garments designed to add function to compatible Held jackets or trousers.
Not every item in this collection works in the same way. Some are close next-to-skin layers, while Clip-in products attach inside suitably equipped Held outerwear. Choose according to season, riding kit and compatibility rather than assuming that every base layer is both cooling and insulating.
Choose the right Held layer
Cooling base layers
Held describes Style Skin 2 as functional underwear for the warm season, using lightweight Held-Dry material with a cooling effect. The collection also includes 3D-Skin Cool and Cool Layer products, but material and construction differ by family.
Warm technical layers
3D-Skin Warm uses NILIT HEAT fibre and a seamless 3D knit in the official Held specification. It is intended to retain natural body warmth while remaining breathable, with separate tops and leggings available.
One-piece race undersuits
Race Skin 2 and Race Skin Pro cover the torso, arms and legs in one garment. Held specifies lightweight, breathable Held-Dry material for Race Skin Pro, with a zip closure and separate men's and women's size ranges.
Held Clip-in additions
Clip-in Thermo, Warm and Windblocker garments are designed for Held outerwear equipped with the matching Clip-in system. They attach to the coloured fixation loops with press studs and should not be assumed compatible with ordinary jackets or trousers.
Fit beneath motorcycle clothing
A technical layer should follow the body without loose folds beneath a leather suit, jacket or trousers. Check the shoulders, elbows, waistband, crotch and backs of the knees in the riding position. Bunching in these areas can create pressure and may affect how the outer garment or its protectors sit.
Women-specific versions use different proportions rather than simply smaller sizing. Compare the exact Held size guide, particularly for one-piece undersuits where torso length matters as much as chest, waist and hip measurements.
Match the layer to your riding kit
Under one-piece leathers
A one-piece undersuit can be convenient because there is no separate waistband beneath the leather. Compare it with Held one-piece suits and make sure zips or seams do not create pressure in a tuck.
Under textile clothing
Separate tops and leggings make it easier to adjust upper and lower-body layers independently. Leave enough room for insulation without making the protective garment loose or displacing its armour.
With Clip-in outerwear
Look for Held's Clip-in feature on the jacket or trousers. The system is identified by dedicated fixation loops and press studs, and its compatibility is a product-specific feature.
Care and drying
Follow the label for the exact fabric. Technical fibres, printed panels and Clip-in garments can have different washing and drying instructions, so one method should not be applied across the whole collection.
Why compare Held base layers at Moto Central?
Moto Central brings the separate Held layer families into one range, helping riders distinguish cooling, warming, one-piece and Clip-in options before comparing size and availability. Product pages show the live variants and model-specific materials, while the team can help match a layer to the outer kit you already own.
For additional outerwear and armour, browse Held jackets, Held textile trousers and Held leather trousers, and Held body armour. Compatibility should always be confirmed at product level.
Customer questions
Do I need a warm base layer in winter?
That depends on temperature, journey length and outer clothing. A warmer layer can improve insulation, but it must fit without compressing protective kit or restricting movement.
Is every Held base layer seamless?
No. Held specifies seamless 3D knitting for relevant 3D-Skin products, but construction differs across Style Skin, Race Skin, Cool Layer and Clip-in ranges.
Can a Clip-in layer be used with any motorcycle jacket?
No. It is designed for Held clothing equipped with the Clip-in fixation system. Check the jacket or trouser specification before buying.
Should a motorcycle base layer fit tightly?
It should sit close enough to avoid folds, but not so tight that it restricts breathing or movement. Use the model-specific size guide and test it beneath the intended outer clothing.
