Choose the construction as well as the brand
Laminated GORE-TEX jackets
The membrane is bonded to the outer material, so the shell absorbs less water and normally dries more quickly after rain. Examples in the live range include two-layer and GORE-TEX Pro constructions, but weight, flexibility and protection remain model-specific.
Removable waterproof layers
A detachable membrane can be taken out in dry weather and, on selected systems, worn over or beneath the protective shell. This gives useful flexibility, although changing layers during a journey takes more planning.
Touring and road jackets
Look for a secure seated fit, useful pocket arrangement, cuff and collar comfort, connection options and enough adjustment for your normal layers. Do not assume that every touring jacket includes a thermal liner.
Adventure jackets
Adventure styling can include larger vents, cargo storage and room for movement, but features vary. Check the precise shell, waterproof system, armour, ventilation and intended use of the individual jacket.
What GORE-TEX does and does not tell you
GORE-TEX garments are designed to provide durably waterproof, windproof and breathable weather protection. Breathability allows water vapour to escape, but it does not make a jacket feel cool in every situation. Temperature, humidity, riding speed, base layers, insulation and the jacket's venting all affect comfort.
GORE-TEX Pro is the more rugged GORE-TEX garment technology and appears on selected jackets in this collection. The membrane name does not describe the jacket's complete protective performance. Abrasion zones, seams, fasteners, armour and certification are decided by the garment manufacturer.
Waterproofing is a complete-system job. Fasten the collar, cuffs, storm flaps and vents correctly, then arrange the gloves and trousers so rain cannot run through an opening. A compatible connection zip can also help keep jacket and trousers positioned together, but compatibility must be checked by model.
Fit the jacket in a riding position
Try the jacket with the base layer, mid layer and trousers you expect to wear. It should close without straining, remain comfortable through the chest and waist, and keep the shoulder and elbow protectors correctly positioned. Sleeves that seem long while standing may be correct once your arms reach the controls.
Sit in a normal riding posture and move through the full steering range. Check the collar at the throat, cuffs beneath or over your gloves, jacket hem, pockets and any waist or sleeve adjusters. The jacket should not pull tightly across the shoulders or push the collar into the helmet.
The collection includes women-specific options from Alpinestars, Dainese, Dane, Held, Richa and Rukka. A women-specific label indicates a different pattern, not a guaranteed fit, so compare the manufacturer's size guide and try the jacket with your intended layers where possible.
Armour and garment certification
Do not choose protection from the GORE-TEX label alone. Check the individual jacket for its stated garment classification, the level and location of included protectors, and whether a back or chest protector is included, optional or unsupported.
Armour must stay over the relevant joint without restricting normal movement. If the jacket allows adjustment at the elbows or sleeves, set it while seated on the motorcycle. Adding a separate protector can alter the available space and may require a different size or layer arrangement.
Warmth, ventilation and layering
Some models include removable thermal insulation, while others are designed around lighter construction or user-selected mid layers. A GORE-TEX membrane is not automatically a winter lining. Check the exact product specification and leave enough room for insulation without making the jacket loose when the layer is removed.
Open only the vents designed for use in the conditions you face, and close them before sustained rain if the manufacturer requires it. Direct-to-body ventilation, mesh panels and waterproof vent construction differ by model, so a high vent count does not by itself guarantee better comfort.
Matching trousers, gloves and boots

Brand and model families often provide the neatest jacket-to-trouser connection, but matching names do not remove the need to confirm size, zip compatibility and intended use on both product pages.
Cleaning and waterproof performance
Follow the care label supplied with the jacket before washing. Close fasteners, remove protectors only where the manufacturer instructs, and avoid fabric softener, bleach and aggressive stain treatments. GORE recommends a small amount of liquid detergent and thorough rinsing for compatible garments.
The outer face has a durable water-repellent treatment that helps rain bead and run off. When this treatment becomes less effective, the face fabric can feel heavier and clammy even though the membrane remains waterproof. Clean and reactivate or renew the treatment only in accordance with the jacket and GORE-TEX care instructions.
