Choose Pinlock inserts to help control misting inside a compatible motorcycle helmet visor. Match the insert to the exact visor shape and fitting code before comparing performance levels or lens colours. A correctly fitted anti-fog insert works with the visor's mounting points and needs an even seal to perform as intended.

Start with the visor, not just the helmet brand
A Pinlock insert is a separate lens fitted inside a compatible outer visor. It is not a replacement for the visor itself. Find the visor reference and check the insert's compatibility list, including any DKS code, rather than selecting on the helmet brand alone.
Helmet generations can use different visors even when their names are similar. Pinlock identifies the SHOEI NXR2 insert as DKS304, for example. Use that kind of exact reference as a check, not as a general fitment rule for other SHOEI helmets.
Insert shape and fitting code
The lens needs to match the visor's shape and mounting arrangement. Compare the full product reference and listed visor models. Do not assume a similar-looking insert will fit or that a higher performance label changes its compatibility.
Performance range
Pinlock uses different anti-fog performance designations, including numbered ranges and manufacturer-specific names such as EVO. These describe the product range rather than the physical size. Compare the options actually approved for your visor instead of choosing by the largest number alone.
MaxVision designs
MaxVision inserts work with a corresponding recessed visor design to extend the covered viewing area. Check that the visor and insert are the intended combination. The MaxVision name does not make one lens suitable for every recessed visor.
Clear and tinted options
Choose for the light conditions in which you ride, and check the usage markings of the complete visor and insert combination. Clear, tinted and light-reactive variants have different purposes; a photograph alone is not enough to establish suitability for low light.
How does a Pinlock insert reduce misting?
The system combines a moisture-absorbing lens with a sealed air space between the insert and outer visor. That makes correct installation important. Read the instructions for the exact lens and pin arrangement, and check that the sealing edge makes consistent contact as specified.
Pinlock-ready means the visor is prepared for a compatible insert. Check the product contents to establish whether the lens is included or purchased separately. If the outer visor is scratched or damaged, compare the correct replacement motorcycle visor as well.
Check installation before replacing a misting insert
If misting develops, inspect the installation and sealing edge using the manufacturer's guidance. Different pin systems have different adjustment instructions, so avoid copying a method intended for another visor. Helmet ventilation and the condition of the components also deserve attention.
Handle the insert gently and follow its own cleaning and drying instructions. Do not assume that a spray intended for the outside of a visor is suitable for the insert. Our helmet cleaning collection can help you compare care products, subject to the lens maker's instructions.
Keep the fitment details for future replacements
Save the visor model and insert code once you have identified the right combination. If you change to another visor, confirm compatibility again. For damaged pins or other fittings, browse helmet spare parts and check whether the required component is available separately.
Identify the insert for your visor
Bring your helmet and visor to Moto Central in Wolvey, or send us the full helmet model and visor reference. We can help you identify the matching insert and distinguish it from similarly named versions.
