Motorcycle overboots for wet-weather riding
Motorcycle overboots are waterproof covers worn over your existing riding footwear. They are a practical option for commuting, touring and carrying as part of a compact rain kit, especially when your normal boots are comfortable and protective but do not have a waterproof membrane.
The current Moto Central collection includes Dainese Rain Over Boots, Bike It Rubber and Heavy Duty Aquashell overboots, Rusty Stitches Rain Boots Covers, Rebelhorn Thunder covers and Held Overshoes. Their material, sole coverage, fastening and packed size vary, so the footwear underneath and the way you plan to use the cover should guide your choice.

Choosing the right motorcycle boot covers
- Size them over your riding boots. Use the manufacturer's guide for the external size of the footwear underneath, not only your normal shoe size. A cover that is too tight can strain seams and fastenings; one that is loose can move around the footrest.
- Check the sole design. Full-sole covers and designs with exposed sections feel different when walking and using the controls. Confirm where the sole, heel and gear-lever area are covered on the individual product.
- Match the opening to your boot. Tall adventure or touring boots need enough room at the ankle and calf. Shorter footwear may suit a different cover shape, but the upper still needs to overlap correctly with waterproof trousers.
- Consider how they will be carried. Lightweight covers can be useful for an emergency rain kit, while heavier rubber or reinforced constructions may take more luggage space.
- Secure every fastening. Zips, hook-and-loop panels and elasticated openings must remain clear of the gear lever, brake pedal, chain and hot motorcycle parts.
Using overboots in the rain
Put the covers on before conditions deteriorate, where it is safe to stop. Pull waterproof trousers over the top opening where the design permits so rain runs over the outside rather than into the cover. Before setting off, check your grip on the ground and make sure you can operate both foot controls without the material snagging.
Waterproof performance can reduce if a cover is torn, badly creased around a seam or worn through at the sole. After use, rinse away road dirt, allow the covers to dry naturally and inspect the fastening, sole and gear-change area before packing them away.
Why buy motorcycle overboots from Moto Central?
Moto Central brings together several types of rain cover in one focused collection, making it easier to compare construction and coverage rather than relying on product names alone. You can also compare waterproof motorcycle boots, browse the complete motorcycle boot range or explore touring motorcycle boots if you would prefer integrated weather protection.
Customer questions
Can motorcycle overboots be worn over trainers?
Some covers may physically fit, but they do not add the protection of a certified motorcycle boot. Use suitable riding footwear underneath.
Should waterproof trousers go inside or outside overboots?
Where the garments allow, the trouser hem normally overlaps the top of the cover so water sheds over the outside. Check the instructions for both items.
Can I walk normally in overboots?
They are intended primarily for wet-weather riding. Walk carefully, particularly on smooth surfaces, and check the sole design and condition before use.
