Motorcycle Intercoms

Compare motorcycle intercoms for phone audio, navigation prompts, rider-to-pillion conversations and group rides. Explore Bluetooth and mesh options, including systems made for specific helmets. Cardo, Sena and Interphone provide useful examples of the different approaches to rider communication. Start with the helmet you own and the people you want to connect to, then choose the features and pack size you need.

Choose your intercom around who you ride with
Solo riding
If your main aim is navigation prompts or phone audio, focus on phone pairing, speaker fit, microphone arrangement and controls you can use easily. Check how your navigation device connects if you use a separate sat nav rather than a phone app.
Rider and pillion
Look at two-person Bluetooth systems and the contents of a twin or duo pack. Cardo specifies the Spirit HD for communication between two riders. Both people need a compatible equipped helmet, so check whether the listing includes one complete unit or two.
Regular group rides
Find out which systems the group already uses before choosing your own. Cardo Packtalk Edge uses Dynamic Mesh Communication, while Sena has its own mesh products. Confirm the supported connection method and firmware requirements for the actual units involved.
A helmet with an integrated system
Choose by the exact helmet model and generation. Sena lists its SRL3 for the Shoei Neotec 3, GT-Air 3 and J-Cruise 3. Its SRL Mesh supports different Shoei generations, so a similar-looking helmet name is not enough to establish fit.
Bluetooth and mesh compatibility need separate checks
Being able to pair devices over Bluetooth does not mean every feature or native mesh function will work between brands. Cardo states that Packtalk Edge supports its DMC products and can also connect to other Cardo units through Bluetooth. For a mixed group, check each manufacturer's instructions for the exact pairing route before purchase.
Compare how many simultaneous participants your intended setup supports, how it reconnects and whether you need a bridge or a particular operating mode. Treat advertised range as a specification to read in context, rather than a guaranteed distance on every road or in every group.
Check the helmet installation and the box contents
For a universal-style unit, check the helmet manufacturer's fitting guidance, mounting space, speaker recesses and microphone position. The microphone must suit the helmet's opening arrangement. A neat fit should not require you to cut or alter the helmet's protective structure.
Compare the supplied microphones, speakers, mounts and charging equipment. If you are moving an existing unit to another helmet, you may need an additional mounting or audio kit rather than a second complete intercom. Browse intercom spares and accessories and verify the unit model before ordering.
Before you choose, write down three names: your helmet model, your existing intercom if you have one, and the systems used by your regular riding partners. Those details make compatibility checks much more useful than choosing by brand alone.
Motorcycle intercom questions
Does a twin pack work differently from a single pack?
Pack size normally describes the number of units supplied. Read the contents and model details to confirm that both helmets receive the mounting and audio equipment you need.
Can I choose any intercom for a Shoei or HJC helmet?
No. Check whether you need a universal mounting system or a unit approved for that exact helmet. Explore Shoei intercoms and HJC intercoms, then confirm the full compatibility list on the product.
Set up pairing and familiarise yourself with the controls before starting your journey. If you are buying a new helmet at the same time, compare the helmet and communication system together.
