Motorcycle Heated Clothing

Choose heated motorcycle clothing for electrically supplied warmth on cold commutes and longer rides. Compare heated jackets, vests, bodywarmers and trousers by the areas they warm, how they fit beneath your riding kit and the power source they require. Plan the complete setup before choosing, including any controller, battery or connection lead.

Where do you want extra warmth?
Heated jackets
A full-sleeve heated layer can provide warmth through more of the upper body. Check the position of its heating zones rather than assuming every part of the garment is heated. Keis's J601 UltraFlex, for example, lists heated areas at the chest, back, sleeves and collar.
Heated vests and bodywarmers
A sleeveless design is worth comparing when you mainly want torso warmth or have limited space inside your jacket sleeves. Look at the heating zones, body length and fit. The labels vest, gilet and bodywarmer do not establish identical construction.
Heated trousers
For lower-body warmth, check the garment beneath your normal riding trousers. Compare the waistband, leg length and location of connections, particularly when seated. Confirm how it is intended to connect to the rest of the heating system.
Hands and the wider system
If cold hands are also a concern, compare heated motorcycle gloves alongside the clothing. Check whether each item uses its own battery or a supported shared supply. Matching the brand name alone is not enough to confirm compatibility.
Bike power or a portable battery?
The garment's specification determines which supplies it supports. A bike-powered arrangement needs the correct lead, connection and sufficient electrical capacity for the complete setup. Follow the equipment and motorcycle guidance, especially when adding several heated items.
A supported portable battery offers a different arrangement for changing bikes or wearing the garment away from the motorcycle. Check the exact battery and charger requirements. Runtime depends on the garment, battery, heat setting and conditions, so compare the manufacturer's guidance for the combination you intend to buy.
Do not assume a connector that physically fits proves electrical compatibility. Use the specified equipment and have the bike connection checked by a suitable installer if you are unsure of the requirements.
Check what is included before comparing prices
A garment, a controller and a battery may be separate purchases or part of a bundle. Read the box contents and identify anything needed to make the system work. Keis, for example, offers different control and power arrangements across its products, making the exact model and package important.
Think about where the controls will sit once your outer jacket is fastened. Check that cables can be routed as directed without snagging or restricting movement, and familiarise yourself with the controls before riding. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for disconnecting and storing the system.
Fit the heated layer within your riding outfit
Follow the garment's instructions on layering. The J601 is an example of a heated mid layer designed to sit between a base layer and an outer jacket. Other garments may have different requirements, so check the intended arrangement before choosing a size.
Try the complete outfit in a riding position, with room for the approved layering setup and comfortable movement. Electrically supplied warmth does not establish waterproofing or protective performance. Use appropriate motorcycle clothing over or alongside the layer as directed.
Compare heating with ordinary insulation
If you mainly need a little extra warmth for shorter journeys, compare insulating mid layers and thermal base layers as well. Heated clothing adds power and control considerations to your outfit, so choose it around the trips you actually make.
