Coccyx Protectors

Showing 1 - 1 of 1 product
Coccyx protectors add targeted coverage around the tailbone at the base of the spine. They may be supplied as garment inserts, fitted within protective shorts or provided as extensions for a particular back-protector system, so compatibility comes first. Choose the correct shape and attachment for your equipment, then check that the protector stays in position and remains comfortable when seated.

Start with the equipment you already own
Find the make, model and any part number on your trousers, protective shorts or back protector. Check its instructions for a supported coccyx insert or extension. A pocket that appears large enough does not establish that a particular pad will sit in the correct place or remain there during use.
For example, Alpinestars specifies its Nucleon KR-TB as an extension for the Nucleon KR-1, KR-R and KR-2 back protectors. That named compatibility should not be extended to every product carrying the Nucleon name. Held's Exosafe by D3O coccyx insert is a separate product with its own dimensions and fit requirements.
Check coverage and comfort together
Correct position
The protector needs to cover the area intended by its manufacturer. Check the fitting direction and fastening or pocket arrangement. Do not assume that a pad which fits sideways or folds into a pocket is suitable.
Seated fit
Try the complete outfit in your riding position. Look for bunching, pressure at the lower edge or a pad that is pushed upwards by the seat. Assess how it interacts with the waistband and any other protection.
Read the specification of the actual part
Thickness, material name and flexibility are not substitutes for documented performance. Check any stated test standard and protection level for the exact insert or extension; do not borrow a rating from another item in the same range. Tailbone coverage also does not replace hip protection or a full back protector.
Use the manufacturer's fitting and care instructions. Avoid cutting a protector or altering its attachments to force compatibility. If a part is damaged, will not stay secure or has been involved in an impact, check the replacement guidance before using it again.
Consider the surrounding protection
Protective shorts offer another way to hold lower-body armour close to the rider. Knox Action Pro Shorts MK2, for example, are supplied with removable hip, thigh and coccyx armour and are intended to sit beneath suitable motorcycle trousers. This illustrates a different approach from buying an individual insert; it does not establish compatibility with another garment. Compare armoured motorcycle shorts and check which areas each model actually covers. You can also browse hip protectors and back protectors when planning a complete setup.
The images illustrate different approaches to tailbone coverage rather than a fixed range or an availability guarantee.
Bring the garment or protector you want to match
Contact Moto Central with the exact model name, or bring the equipment to our Wolvey showroom. Checking the intended pocket or attachment is more useful than comparing an insert by appearance alone.
