Which motorcycle boots suit your riding?
Road and sports boots
Explore sports and road boots if you prefer a close-fitting design for a tucked riding position. Compare ankle support, shin coverage, fastening systems and replaceable parts. Check any track organiser's equipment requirements before choosing boots for a track day.
Touring and adventure boots
For longer journeys, compare touring boots with adventure boots. Think about calf adjustment, sole feel on the footpegs and how easily you can walk at fuel stops. A tall, substantial boot can feel very different from a lighter road design.
Short boots and riding shoes
Casual-style motorcycle boots suit riders who want footwear that is easier to wear at their destination. Compare the ankle coverage and protective construction of each model. A trainer-like appearance does not tell you its protection rating, and a short boot leaves more of the shin uncovered.
Wet-weather riding
Use the waterproof motorcycle boots collection to narrow the range. Check the stated membrane and the height of the waterproof opening. The trouser and boot overlap matters too: rain can enter from above even when the boot itself has a waterproof lining.
A closer look at the range
The RST Adventure-X is one example of a taller waterproof option: RST specifies a SinAqua membrane, twin-buckle fastening and additional hook-and-loop closure. That combination gives you several points of adjustment to consider when comparing calf fit. For a less prominent look, compare riding shoes and shorter boots. RST HiTop and Sidi Urbex illustrate different approaches to this style. Read the selected product's details before deciding which construction suits your journey.
Check the protection label and the fit
EN 13634 is the motorcycle footwear standard. Its testing covers properties including abrasion resistance, impact-cut resistance and transverse rigidity. Water resistance and some other properties have separate tests, so a CE label alone should not be treated as a waterproof guarantee.
Try boots with your riding socks and trousers. Fasten every closure, bend your knees and check that you can move your ankle enough to operate the controls without the heel lifting excessively. Look for comfortable toe room and avoid persistent pressure points. Use the brand's size guide rather than assuming your usual trainer size will fit every make.
Comparing boots online? Keep three details beside you: your foot measurements, the socks you will wear and whether your trouser leg needs to sit over or inside the boot. Those details are more useful than choosing by size number alone.
Questions about motorcycle boots
Are all leather motorcycle boots waterproof?
No. Look for an explicit waterproof specification. Leather, perforated panels, zips and seams can be used in different constructions, and a leather outer does not establish whether a boot has a waterproof membrane.
Can I use the same boots for touring and commuting?
Often, provided their fit and features suit both. Consider the length of your ride, the weather you encounter, time spent walking and how the boots work with your trousers. Compare women's motorcycle boots where a different cut may improve the fit.
