Shark motorcycle helmets cover everyday road riding, sportier journeys and the convenience of modular designs. Look beyond the graphics and start with the helmet format, its fit and the features you will use regularly. A fixed full-face helmet, a flip-back model and a helmet with integrated lighting each bring different considerations to your shortlist.
A full-face design has a fixed chin bar, while the OXO illustrates Shark's flip-back approach, with a chin section that moves to the rear of the helmet. Consider how you will use the mechanism at stops and follow the exact model's instructions for its permitted riding configurations. Opening the front changes the coverage around your face.
The Skwal i3 family includes integrated LED brake lights. If this feature appeals, check how the system operates, how it is charged and what maintenance it needs. Do not assume a similarly named Shark helmet has the same lighting equipment. Treat lighting as an additional feature while giving fit and the helmet's core specification your full attention.
Measure your head and use the size guide for the model you are considering, then try the helmet on with the strap correctly fastened. Look for even, secure contact around the head without a concentrated pressure point. Check that it does not move independently when you turn your head, and take time to assess how the cheek pads feel.
Bring your glasses if you wear them. Operate the visor, sun visor where fitted and vents, and check the view in your usual riding position. A feature that looks useful on paper needs to be easy to use with your gloves and comfortable for the journeys you make.
Shark uses different visor fitments across its helmet families. Match the exact model and visor reference before selecting a replacement shield or anti-fog insert; similar shapes and names are not enough. Check intercom compatibility in the same way, including the mounting arrangement and space for speakers.
The illustrated models show different design approaches without defining the whole range. Explore our wider motorcycle helmets if you want to compare formats, or use the visor collection to find the correct replacement for a helmet you already own.
Compare fit and operate the controls in person. Bring your glasses and details of any intercom you plan to use so that comfort and compatibility can be considered together.
