Bering textile motorcycle jackets cover very different riding needs, from airflow on warm days to adaptable touring layers and waterproof commuter kit. The useful comparison is how each jacket manages weather, movement and protection, rather than how many features appear on its label. Choose a construction that suits your journeys, then check the cut and the details you will use with the rest of your riding equipment.

Bering Alias Textile Jacket Black — Alias: a textile jacket example using Hard Mesh.

Bering Cronos Textile Jacket Black / Anthracite — Cronos: an example with removable weather and thermal layers.

Bering Lakefield Gore-Tex Jacket Black — Lakefield GORE-TEX BTV1110: a laminated jacket example for comparison.

Understand where the weather protection sits

A textile outer does not tell you whether a jacket is waterproof. Look for the specified membrane and how it is incorporated. A removable weather layer lets you change the jacket’s configuration, whereas a laminate bonds the membrane to the outer fabric. Those are different arrangements to compare against your riding routine.

Bering’s Cronos illustrates the removable approach with a BWTECH Super membrane. Lakefield GORE-TEX BTV1110 is a laminated jacket example. Keep those specifications tied to their exact models: the Bering name alone does not establish which construction you are buying. Consider whether you want to stop and change layers during a journey, and where you will store anything removed.

Balance airflow and warmth

For summer riding, look at mesh coverage and ventilation rather than assuming that a light-looking jacket will admit plenty of air. Bering uses Hard Mesh in designs such as Alias. For a longer trip across changing temperatures, inspect the thermal lining separately from the rain barrier.

Cronos, for example, combines its removable membrane with a removable SHELLTECH Super lining. This allows different layers to serve different purposes, but does not make every textile jacket equally suitable for every season. Think about cool starts, slow traffic and warmer afternoons when deciding which configuration is most useful to you.

Choose the cut with your riding layers on

Bering’s fit vocabulary includes Body Fit and Regular Fit, alongside King Size and Queen Size options in selected ranges. These are useful starting points for comparing shapes, not a substitute for the exact garment’s size guide. Men’s and women’s designs should be assessed on their own sizing information.

Fasten the jacket over the layers you normally wear, reach towards the handlebars and check whether the shoulders, elbows or chest feel restricted. Try it with and without a removable lining if you expect to use both arrangements. Adjust the sleeves and waist where provided, while keeping enough freedom to move and maintaining the intended protector positions.

Check protection and everyday usability

Read the garment approval separately from the ratings of its shoulder and elbow armour. Confirm whether a back protector is supplied or whether the jacket only has a pocket for one. Bering lists Cronos with Level 1 ALPHA shoulder and elbow protectors and a back-protector pocket; do not carry that equipment list across to other models.

Test the collar and cuffs with your gloves, and check access to the pockets you will use. If a pocket will carry something that must stay dry, look for an explicit waterproof specification. Try the jacket with your trousers to assess lower-back coverage while seated, and confirm exact connection-zip compatibility before planning a joined outfit. Follow the individual care label for washing, liners and armour removal.
