The HJC F71 is an ECE 22.06 full-face motorcycle helmet developed for sport-touring road use. It combines a wide HJ-38 outer visor, a multi-position HJ-V12 internal sun shield and a Double-D retention system, with a choice of Advanced Fibreglass Composite or carbon-fibre shell construction.
Moto Central's F71 collection brings together solid colours, graphics and F71 Carbon helmets. It also includes HJ-38 replacement visors and DKS466 Pinlock inserts, so check whether a listing is a complete helmet, an outer visor or an anti-fog insert before choosing a size or finish.
HJC states that current F71 and F71 Carbon helmets meet or exceed the ECE 22.06 requirements for road helmets.
The regular F71 uses HJC's Advanced Fibreglass Composite, while F71 Carbon models use a carbon-fibre outer shell.
The clear shield has Pinlock preparation, a two-way pivot ratchet and an enhanced dual-lock closure.
The internal dark smoke shield has multiple positions, allowing its depth to be adjusted separately from the clear visor.
The F71's wide eye port is intended to open the rider's field of view. HJC also provides grooves in the interior for spectacle arms, emergency-release cheek-pad tabs and reflective trim at the lower rear of the comfort lining.
Airflow is managed by HJC's ACS channel system, moving air from front intakes towards a rear exhaust. The moisture-wicking crown and cheek pads are removable and washable, and the shell is prepared for second-generation SMART HJC communication systems.
Both versions share the F71's full-face shape, HJ-38 visor family, adjustable sun shield and Double-D fastening. The principal difference is the outer shell: HJC uses a laminate of selected materials and rigid fibreglass for the Advanced Fibreglass Composite version, while the Carbon model has a carbon-fibre shell.
Shell material is only one part of the choice. Compare the actual size, weight distribution and pressure around the crown and cheeks. A lighter specification on paper does not guarantee a better fit, and the finish should come after the correct size and shape have been established.
HJC publishes F71 size options from XS to 2XL, although measurements can differ slightly between the standard and Carbon product charts and not every graphic is produced in every size. Measure around the widest part of the head just above the eyebrows and ears, then use the chart on the exact product page and our motorcycle helmet sizing guide.
With the Double-D strap secured, hold the chin bar and gently try to rotate the helmet. The comfort lining should move the skin rather than sliding freely over it. Check that the eye opening remains correctly placed and that the helmet cannot roll forwards off the head.
Try the F71 with the glasses, earplugs or thin balaclava normally used on the motorcycle. Spectacle grooves can create space for the arms, but frame width and speaker position still affect comfort. Never cut the comfort liner or protective EPS to create clearance.
The F71 uses HJC's HJ-38 outer visor, also found on the i71. Its two-way pivot mechanism controls the visor's opening path and draws the shield into its final sealing position as it closes. The central dual-lock arrangement should be pressed until it is fully engaged before riding.
Clear and dark smoke HJ-38 replacement visors appear in this collection. Check the HJ-38 code rather than relying on appearance because other HJC shields can have different pivots, curvature or sealing edges. For tinted options, confirm the product's markings and suitability for the expected light conditions.
The HJ-V12 dark smoke sun shield is a separate component inside the helmet. It can be moved through several positions to change coverage, but it does not replace the clear external visor. Raise it as daylight fades and keep a road-suitable clear outer visor available for darkness or poor visibility.
The DKS466 Pinlock 70 MaxVision insert is shaped for the Pinlock-prepared HJ-38 visor used by the F71 and i71. It mounts against the inside of the visor to create an insulating air pocket that helps reduce condensation. The insert is not a replacement visor and depends on the correct locating pins and seal tension.
HJC's current F71 specifications list a clear DKS466 Pinlock insert, breath deflector and chin curtain among the supplied accessories. Contents can vary by market or product version, so check the exact Moto Central product page or box if one item is essential before ordering a duplicate.
A Pinlock insert helps manage fogging on the inside of the visor; it cannot remove rain, dirt or spray from the outer surface. Clean both parts with compatible products, avoid abrasive cloths and allow a washed insert to dry naturally before refitting it.
The ACS layout channels air through the helmet when the intakes and exhaust are open and unobstructed. Its effect varies with road speed, motorcycle screen, weather and head position, so check the controls with gloves and combine useful ventilation with a correctly installed anti-fog insert in damp or cold conditions.
Remove the crown and cheek pads in the sequence shown in HJC's instructions. Wash them gently, rinse thoroughly and let them dry away from direct heat. Avoid solvents, fuel and aggressive household cleaners around the shell, EPS liner, visors and comfort materials.
The red cheek-pad tabs form part of HJC's emergency-release system and are intended to assist trained responders. They are not everyday removal handles. After routine cleaning, refit every pad securely and check the visor, vents and Double-D strap before the next journey.
F71 helmets are prepared for SMART HJC 11B, 21B and 50B communication systems, which are sold separately. Use the designated speaker and control positions, route wiring behind the comfort liner and keep all parts clear of the retention system and protective structure.
Moto Central groups standard and Carbon F71 helmets with the range's available graphics, HJ-38 visors and DKS466 inserts. That makes it easier to compare shell construction first, choose a correctly fitting size and then identify compatible visor parts by their proper model codes.
Our team can help assess crown and cheek fit, demonstrate the Double-D fastening and explain the difference between the outer visor, internal sun shield and Pinlock insert. You can also compare other full-face motorcycle helmets, browse the wider HJC range, view all motorcycle helmets or find more helmet spares and accessories.
